Started a model for a bike to make for myself. Mostly to try new design ideas and workflows so i can do a better job designing for others and not experiment on clients. This is the v1 of this bike, v2 is in the works with FEA being used during the design process instead of after. I want to try a bike with a really low leverage. This bike uses 65mm of stroke to achieve 150mm of suspension. My current bike has 58mm of stroke for 150mm so i figured more stroke would feel better and would make shock tuning...

If you want a shorter offset on your dual crown fork, you can always just flip the crowns backwards and re-install the stanchions (assuming your crowns have offset). I run a 56mm offset boxxer on my Spire with backwards crowns. This reduces the offset to 36mm. The turning radius is just enough to not notice. I also had to make sure my tire wouldn't hit the frame before bottom out since the reduced offset brings it closer to the down tube.

A new take on front suspension tech I am experimenting with which could be a simple bolt on conversion. Specs: Fox 36 140mm travel with custom one piece Upright/fork crown. Girder fork type link suspension with Fox DPS shock giving 53mm travel. 193mm total travel. This system gives the front wheel two different wheelpaths....the more vertical of the Telefork and a more rearwards wheelpath of the Link suspension....each seperately tunable. A more dynamic range of change for offset and trail. This adds a third level of suspension compliance ( first being the tire...then the Telefork..then the link suspension ). I...

Add Trailcraft to the list. I spoke with him while making my decision to go shorter, and found him to be quite nice. he has some other sizes besides the multiple of 5 you see from others. Just mounted my Canfields and am excited to get out for a ride. https://www.trailcraftcycles.com/product/trailcraft-direct-mount-cranks/

I read about half the comments. Seems like a good amount of you live in the woke bubble. I highly suggest you never watch South Park, your outrage might cause a heart attack. What’s even more ironic is that ad was the banner on top of this thread. It so barely sexual I can’t even understand why some of you are upset? Do you make your wives or girlfriends dress like pilgrims to avoid showing any skin and causing arousal? Half the butts are dudes. Go ride your bikes more.

Just saw the ad on a different website... All I can say is that if you're offended by it, you're baby lotion soft and/or a total prude. You're literally zero fun at parties. I read this thread before I saw the ad and I immediately started laughing my ass off at all the upset folks here. I'm sorry, but you suck.

My predictions continue to ring true. The company issued an apology, but ultimately nothing will change because you have not drawn a straight enough line between a problem and solution. Your hypothesis (mountain biking isn't inviting to woman) is based on what data exactly? Participation? Are you certain woman and men will always participate in all sports at a 50/50 split? Are you sure butts on a screen is the reason women aren't willing to participate at higher levels? Despite the woke capture of universities in the United States, there remains a pile of data to suggest gender participation in...

Good to see my predictions are ringing true. Just my $0.02 but if a fraction of the time went into real, actionable, community focused efforts the sport would in fact be more inclusive, open and (frankly) rad. For all the do-gooders in this thread, play your actions forward. Lets say your really mean emails get the company to issue a press release apologizing. Man, do you feel good, what a victory. But what really changes? As far as I can tell, absolutely nothing. If you think you'll stop the utilization of sex in advertising I'd suggest you get your head...

I heard an interview with the Gamux guys a while back (Bikes & Big Ideas, I think) about the bikes and the UCI rule changes. Definitely interesting.

Please let's just move on from the crank drama. I'm sure both sides have learned from the experience. It's Sea Otter now; let's see some spicy tech rumor shots

I just went through and watched all the guys instagram videos again and missed the part where 5dev were aware of the likelihood of failure. They acknowledged it broke and offered TWO pairs of their stronger freeride cranks or a full refund (which I’d take over a formal apology any day). Was pretty clear the guy posting was a troll from the get go when he responded to their initial message of “how can we help” with “bruh” and a face palm emoji… unfortunate that he got a defective crank but he’s got enough whine it makes me wanna prep...

I want to take a moment to thank Darren from Push, who has a small business to run, for taking time to weigh in and educate mouth breathers like me about what's happening inside our suspension stuff that goes up-and-down. I've learned a ton from reading so far. Thanks, Darren!
