i´m on a Di2 XT linkglide on my E-Bie and couldn´t be more happy,just have to check the bike battery,no extra chargers or spare batterys,never miss a shift and you could ride hard and shift at the same time ,i use auto shift for commuting to the trails and irt´s cool.

I'll add something to this discussion. I'm too dumb for electronic drivetrains. I've been lucky enough to own them on a road bike and a mountain bike, and on both bikes I had to constantly think (hard) about how to use the shifter. Months into riding them, I would still shift the wrong way because I forgot which direction the shifter went. I have so much muscle memory into physical cable-operated shifting that my brain struggles to learn a new shifting habit. It doesn't help that there's absolutely zero kinesthetic feedback for your thumb in an electronic shift beyond an...

I got a weird nostalgia boner for brands that were the shit when I was a kid, so Hadley hubs, White industries, Mavic etc. Their modern stuff doesn't have the same glow unfortunately. I almost religiously run shimano drivetrains & brakes

Wanted to add this little anecdote to the forum, as I found it a pretty staggering illustration of how the balance shifts across different sized bikes. I have been riding an S2/Medium Ibis HD6 this year. By today's standards, its certainly moderate geo-wise, if not a tad conservative. The wheelbase is 1228 with a 435 chainstay, putting the FC/RC ratio at about 1.82 and making the chainstay about 35.4% of the total wheelbase (435/1228). Out of curiosity, I did the same basic math with one of Paul Aston's enormous custom steel bikes, which had a 1375 wheelbase and 490 chainstay...

As a consumer I think it's so rad to have two bikes in one. One of my favorite bikes was my second gen Bronson that I swapped for a 5010 frame to race slalom. But the ability to use a 5mm longer stroke shock/fork air spring to turn it back into a Bronson made it the best of both worlds. With two different clevis and shock sizes I feel like the Ripmo/Ripley would be even better.

Maybe its just me, but I felt like this thread used to be more open to ideas, and just seeing cool things, and I'd like a return to that. These new things arent for everyone, and not every product is meant to be the perfect fit for everyone, which is friggin great, we should want diversity in the marketplace, shouldnt we? While that is true, if the front center grows without the rear center also growing, the weight distribution shifts more and more towards the rear. This results in being forced to ride with more weight on your hands which is generally undesirable. IMO, your hands should mostly be used for controlling the bike and fore-aft stability, not for supporting your weight. I’m 6’3” and find that many bikes with short CS and long reach force me into a riding position that I don’t like in order to place enough weight on the front wheel.

Piston retraction is always set off the rotor surface. It doesn't matter how wide a rotor is as long as it fits in the slot through the caliper. Differential F/R wheel speed as it's shown in the recent stumpjumper review is a bogus way to measure traction in a mountain bike. If you own an EVO, dont buy the stumpy 15................. The geo is basically the same lol. Leverage update is irrelevant when the cascade link exists.... You cant even run mechanical drivetrains lmao. This update is just a way to combine the stumpy and EVO models together, less SKU like trek.
