Shout out big privilege, he's a good dude. Always up at mountain creek, just a normal dude that likes riding bikes (with a rap career). I love that it he brings representation for a minority in our sport.

I love the hesitation as he morally questions his word choice.

I want to say a massive THANK YOU to Vital MTB for the donation of these bikes! We will be sharing the donation with Silver Stallion, a nonprofit in Gallup, NM that serves the Diné Nation.

Specialized just closed their Canadian offices and I'm not sure if they'll be shipping from the US or if they kept the warehouse open. Trek ships from 3 US warehouses to Canada.

I see your gearbox/belt/chain talk and raise you an enclosed primary chain with secondary "standard" drivetrain! This is cool: https://www.zoceli.cz/en/vysoko

I feel a lot of people that would complain about the gearbox efficiency making a perceivable difference to their enduro or all mountain ride would be the same people with overbuilt wheels, fox 38, cushycores, and downhill casing tires for multiple blues a maybe a black diamond trail for their saturday ride. Then finish it off with pounding back 4 IPAs and some cake later that day.

We all know the theory: lower tire pressures mean more grip, and higher pressures roll faster. But when it comes to real-world speed, which one really wins? I set out to answer this with 30 timed runs down the same track. â—¾ The Experiment Two sets of tire pressures were chosen for my 88kg (194lbs) weight: 25/28 psi (front/rear) for the higher pressures and 18/20 psi (front/rear) for the lower pressures. These pressures maintain a consistent 0.9 front-to-rear ratio, with the high pressures aligning with recommendations such as those from E13 . After three warm-up laps, each tire pressure setup...

Only one brake rotor visible in bulldogs bike build post on Instagram, potential switch to unicycle team? What NZ based unicycle brands are there?

Long time listener, first time caller here. These by-pass tubes are a version of position sensitive dampers. In the race car world in series where these can exist, they are a great sounding concept that can be made difficult if you try to use them for super precise applications. Knowing exactly what ride height you encounter the condition you want to control is difficult. If you are simply trying to increase damping as you get closer to bottoming out, the decision gets simpler. But in that case, mountain bikes already have some easier ways of getting that behavior with air...

Sorry to hear about the issue with your frame Kusa, that's a bummer, but glad things are being handled under warranty. FYI, Rocky Mountain paints replacement/warranty frame parts to match in it's Saint-Georges, QC, offices, not the BC one. There's a massive warehouse there with a paint shop which allows to colour match frames as needed. We can usually match anything still under warranty (so 5 years, sometimes more). As for shipping, Rocky Mountain has a bunch of parts and warranty orders ready to ship, but due to the restructuring proceedings, we are working with our different courriers to be...

Why does EVERY thread descend into tech talk? Ah, cos MTBers are nerds 🤣 By my calculations Cube and maybe Yeti are the two main teams (hard to know with pivot) that have high profile riders that won't get a top 20 team slot. But Balanche, Blewitt, Rude, Harternstern etc. can all race in their own right. So what do the teams do? Trucks parked in the next town?

I would agree with Sethimus, that generally whats ridden here maybe doesnt apply everywhere else. But I've lived in a few places in Europe, and generally its kind of "three phases" or three types of people. People that are somewhat new to the hobby ride a lot of YT/Canyon - Good marketing, and easy to order online, with good pricing. Then we have the "middle" phase, people often ride bikes from their local bike shop. So in that specific city, if it has a big Spesh dealer, SC dealer, Trek dealer etc - Thats what you see, and people continue...

Yep, thats why I ask. What are the core lords riding/whats hip? I lived there in 2013ish and sold my Santa Cruz nomad for a pretty penny as it was ''in', but not available to purchase.

Just a reminder that there are tons of Rohloff hubs out there and they are used by people for bikepacking, low-maintenance MTBs, etc.. It came to market in 1999 (longest standing product?). They are super-reliable and low maintenance. While they have a little more drag when riding compared to a super clean, high-end classic drivetrain, once you figure dirt and wear, they are pretty close. It was also the "gearbox of choice" in Cam Cole's Lahar with which he won junior worlds.

@Etney as your in Freiburg, how many YT's are out on the trails in Germany? What bikes are 'in'? In the US, we are often in a bubble on other markets.
