MPH24 Added a reply to 700-day Lead Times on MTB Components?
5/5/2021 7:42am I talked to Maxxis a week ago and they don't have much stock. They have DHRs and others getting on the boat in a month but the person at Maxxis was unsure how many of those tires had been allocated to OEM partners... The word was buy tires for your summer supply now.

MPH24 Added a comment about feature Why Not Just Make MTB Parts in the USA? The Inside Line Podcast
3/11/2021 8:49am Thanks for the replies. spomer didn't mean to imply you glossed over it but I think the general "make everything in us" crowd does at times. I don't want to mention the brand but it is a large one in a major metro area. One issue they brought up is that price isn't really the big issue but finding quality people that wanted to do the work. To Push, more of a general business questions, but do you find you spend more time or HR resources on finding, developing, and retaining talent on the manufacturing side vs. the sales, marketing...

MPH24 Added a comment about feature Why Not Just Make MTB Parts in the USA? The Inside Line Podcast
3/11/2021 8:06am Great Listen. Very insightful. I know it's a touchy subject and also some of the IP Darren talked about with manufacturing, but it would be cool to get more insight on the labor side. I know another outdoor brand that moved it's manufacturing from Asia back to the US five or so years ago and is now shipping the manufacturing back to Asia and other locations because the labor side of things was a semi-nightmare. I think some of this was HR related plus the labor pool demographic. How much of a challenge is this aspect because I think it's...

MPH24 Added a comment about feature Eddie Masters Thinks the UCI Is Suffocating Downhill Racing
10/28/2020 10:43am I get there are a lot complex issues here with the UCI. But it seems to me there is one easy solution to deal with key point here: If you qualify for a final at WC that means you’re a top 60 rider and to Eddie’s point, have the pace, you should be granted the points or given the status to gain entry to race in a WC (guaranteed a spot for Qualis) for the next 12 months. This seems like an easy solution to ensure you’re getting the best talent and gives people a much better justification to commit...

MPH24 Added a comment about feature Marginal Gains: There’s Nothing *Stock* About Stock Suspension
10/23/2020 7:57am Interesting piece. Given the problem for brands of trying to solve the range of rider size, ability level, and terrain, why don't they offer "base setup" and then have an appendix for advanced setup in the manual? I know you really need to go out and bracket test to see what you like but as a guy with a young kid now I don't have hours to spend adjusting and testing suspension. Helping me get to a faster baseline would be extremely helpful. The brands do a ton of testing as you mention and have sorted a lot of this...

MPH24 Added a reply to Are Global DH Bikes Sales Falling?
10/20/2020 7:49am I wonder if the same thing will happen to XC race bikes. IMO the race categories (DH and XC) are getting so refined that they aren't the most fun for the non-racing rider. That said, the tech bits and racing is great right now. Even if you're an XC rider, the Stumpy EVO, Spur, Etc. is going to be a...

MPH24 Added a reply to Should the UCI do more double headers? (in non-pandemic years)
10/19/2020 6:55am I think there would be venues that would be able to pull off two track options, where at least 60% (more than half) of the track is different for the second race. The UCI would need to throw a carrot out there for the venue but with enough notice (1+ years), I think this is really doable for any bike...
MPH24 Added a reply to UCI DH Rule Unclear - DSQ for Riding Over a Course-Marking Pole?
10/16/2020 1:50pm Sorry to double post here. But to add, I think the rule needs to be more clear. One thing I love about DH racing and watching it is there isn't this BS. Fastest Guy or Gal wins and there's no debate like with Rampage that is very frustrating.
MPH24 Added a reply to UCI DH Rule Unclear - DSQ for Riding Over a Course-Marking Pole?
10/16/2020 1:46pm To me this is clear cut DQ. Spomer, I second or two before your screen grab you can see the top of the pool bend under the rear wheel and come out on the right side of his bike (i.e. rear tire was completely outside the pole). He also totally blows up the tape between the pole he hit and...
