Conditions were perfect as the riders sunk their tires into the lush Lousa loam on qualifying day for race #1 of this double-header speedfest. When the hero dirt settled, Loris Vergier and Myriam Nicole sat atop the leaderboards and can look forward to being last to drop into their race runs tomorrow. The Syndicate leads the overall team standings currently and with a 1-3-4 finish here in qualifying, they show no signs of letting up the pressure on the others any times soon. In the junior men's category, local boy Goncalo Bandeira denied Oisin O'Callaghan his third straight qualifying win, while Lauryn Chappaz seeded fastest in the junior women's.
