tcmtnbikr Added a reply to 2026 MTB Tech Rumors and Innovation - Longer and Slacker
6/20/2026 12:03pm After 5 years of riding and living with Dominions on a daily basis I wouldn’t change a thing. Have to give Hayes credit for not following the lemmings and routing the hose next to the bar ‘because it looks cleaner but rattles’ like the two S’s

4/17/2026 6:33am That battery is basically at the headtube. Interesting to see the 'lower weight placement = better handling' argument has lost to having an SL-slim downtube. It would be really interesting to ride a mondraker or commencal Bosch and DJI back-to-back to see if there's any merit whatsoever to the argument. Although you raise the bikes center of gravity the extra weight over the front. Unrelated, the shiny black lower ohlins are way better, but please just go back to a vertical O or invent something that isn't this pathetic new shape.

4/15/2026 4:46pm Curious what fork you’re comparing to the new Zeb? I believe a primary driver for the new Zeb is more linear as many were unable to use full travel at longer travel on prior generation. Personally I feel I can get full travel on my Zeb charger 3.1 at 180 mm with half a token without it being overly progressive...

4/3/2026 9:00am Another vote for Wrangler ATG. Costco had them recently for $20 but I’ve gotten them for $18 from Target or Walmart in the past. I’m fortunate enough I could easily afford the $150+ pants but why, just why when they’re virtually identical fabric and cut. The cuff on recent models is a little larger so I wrap a Velcro strap...

12/12/2025 2:56pm Whoever championed the move to slip fit bearings in headsets should be lit on fire. Until maybe 10 or 15 years ago they were always press fit in the cups. Since the advent of slip fit bearings I routinely get a combination that is prone to knocking or creaking. Any engineer or even armchair engineer can see that a slip fit, no matter how ‘tight’, can be prone to rocking under high lateral loads. There’s very few companies left doing a proper press fit. King is one of them but to my dismay they don’t offer a top and bottom...
