Folks throw the term brake jack around without understanding it. Many feel a certain amount of anti rise is desirable to maintain geometry. A 'neutral' horst link typically has very low anti rise but the forward pitching with brake dive is unsettling. A single pivot can have very desirable anti squat (i.e., pedaling) AND anti rise (braking geometry preservation). The MTB media has hyped 'brake jack' as a bad thing.

Ever time yourself on the same track? I've timed myself down the same track with the same bike in the same condition in back to back runs and can absolutely guarantee I will see at least 1 second variance for every minute on course. Would a WC rider be more consistent, most likely. But one run proves nothing.

Appreciate the effort but I'll bet dollars to donuts if you do repeat runs on the same bike you'll see similar time variances. It is foolish to draw conclusions from single-run data.

1x has rendered or reinvigorated single pivot designs as competitive. Multi link designs had some advantages with the massive chain line disparities of 2x and 3x but those days are gone. Besides the extra heft here, there is no reason a single pivot will not pedal as well as DW, VPP or other.

You've got to appreciate the irony of the situation. Putting aside the trail access issues and other actual, real issues. E-bikes are getting so much shit in a country where people drive huge gas-guzzling trucks to the trail heads, where off-road moto and quads are widely accepted and sold....more

I can’t help but laugh that the same group that in the last 25-30 years fought for trail access (against equestrians and hikers) are now so willing to pull the same bull with the new kid on the block. Having a growing population that is fighting TOGETHER can only help grow and maintain...more
