mcozzy Added a comment about bike check Orange 329: "2002 Peaty Replica"

These have a really steep head angle for a DH bike as standard, make me question what orange were thinking. I wonder how it would respond to mulleting? I'm getting oddly drawn to the looks of orange bikes these days.

I think what you have is a distaste for the "typical new ebike owner" not the bike. I've been riding since the mid 90's, I'm only in my mid 30's so the large majority of my life has been involved in MTB. This is just another evolutionary leap in tech that is bringing new people into the sport in my eyes. I've seen it before in the early 2000's after the Sydney Olympics where MTB boomed here somewhat because of a young bloke called Cadel Evans made the rest of the world look silly on an offroad bicycle. Kooks were...

As a privateer, I'd definitley have chosen the RockShox combo. Longest service life and most DIY friendly when it comes to maintenance and the cheapest service items. Doing DIY maintenance on anything FOX is a desaster.

I doubt it’s going to be that big of a change. My 21 is plush on top like he said and ramps up hard at the end of the travel. Problem is to deal with big hits you have to keep the air pressure up. Adding more damping and messing with the air spring again doesn’t seem like a game changer. I’m waiting for the buttercups breaking pics to start showing up personally.

The boxxer blackbox, assume on 29", have a really short axle lug. Be interesting to see the offset when they are released. The current 56mm seems ridiculous these days.

Rider weight makes a massive difference to battery use and comparisons can't really be made to fullfat ebikes unless they are also being ridden by 50kg riders.

BHowell Liked a product review Review - 2023 Trek Fuel EXe

The world of e-bikes feels like it has been in an arms race these past couple of years. New models tout larger batteries and more powerful motors. Additionally, more electronic integrations, displays, and gadgets. This has left the world of lighter e-bikes in the hands of only a few players. Today, Trek does an about-face and offers the Fuel EXe - a 40-pound e-bike that to us, represents a new wave of eMTB. Highlights OCLV Carbon frame 29-inch wheels (mixed-wheel compatible) 140mm (5.5-inches) of rear-wheel travel // 150mm (5.9-inches) fork travel ABP suspension design Internal cable routing New TQ Motor...

I will argue Good riders do more trail damage etc than worrying about where ebikes ride. Ebikes are what SUV's are for the car market.( as far as market relevance goes) if they sell 8 ebikes to 2 amish bikes they will produce more and the market will see more Ebikes. I was in the LBS yesterday picking up my 4th XT derailleur in 2 months and there were 3 people in there, they all wanted ebikes, ages were probably 30-55 just assuming/guessing based on nothing but how they held themselves. the problem your talking about lies with the person...

They probably were simply talking about the physical demands of throwing a heavy ass bike around on the trail. They´re easier to go uphill on, but raging down a trail, popping and pumping every root and compression they´re more physically demanding than a lightweight bike on your upper body strength.

I'll bet my left ball Shimano have some sort of drive/gearbox in one unit under prototype somewhere, this isn't just for E-mtb, but commuter, touring, road etc it just makes so much sense to use. why do they have gears, well as you know they assist the rider, they don't propel the bike without input from the rider. The mechanical advantage gears give allow the rider to pedal at a cadence and effort that will "simulate" riding a normal bike. You could have a single speed for sure, but the effeciency of the system would take a huge fall, your...
