5/25/2026 6:56am I made a list of my bikes during covid to reminisce about the various bikes I had. I was definitely too into the tech and wanting the 'new things', but now I've held on to my current bike for almost seven years with pretty minimal modifications. This doesn't include a few BMX bikes (2) I had earlier, my drop-bar bikes...

5/19/2026 11:39am Just going off of 'site sponsors' for Vital and Pinkbike: Ari: Budget I guess? Cannondale: more road for PON Ibis: small, but maybe getting their lunch eaten by other 'small' brands. Intense: probably continues with USA focus. Seems like odd things going on there for the past while but they are still surviving. Kona: I would be concerned, but they...

5/19/2026 11:30am I was thinking over the weekend that GoPro has kind of fallen off in terms of relevance, but thought maybe some media company like Red Bull would be interested in buying them just for the content they make? But then again, maybe no point in doing so if DJI/Insta360 are making as good/better products anyways.

5/13/2026 6:56am Strength and stretching are both really important for bike handling and long-term durability as a rider. Duh. But sometimes trying to just be more tough isn't the best answer. I think a great test for whether it's a strength problem or an ergonomic problem has been "does it hurt all over, or does it hurt in one very specific place?" If it hurts all over, it probably means I'm too weak, and the pain I'm feeling is just part of the process of getting tougher, i.e. callouses, grip strength, sinew and soft tissue getting more resilient, etc. Lord knows I...

5/12/2026 11:19am Long time lurker, first time poster here. For some background I’m an aerospace composites engineer and spent several years in Advanced Product Development with an emphasis on environmentally friendly materials. There’s so much to get into on this topic and if folks are interested I’d love to start a dedicated thread on materials and environmental impacts. The TLDR is, carbon fiber as a green product on its own is a fallacy. The raw fiber production may result in a certain level of carbon sequestering, but the process is still so energy intensive I wouldn’t call it an environmental positive. As...

5/4/2026 6:59am Thank you all for the interest in our bikes and in our distribution / sales model. To give you a bit of context, we’re currently a team of 9 people at RAAW, based in Germany, and we ship worldwide directly from here. The US has actually grown into our biggest market after Germany, which is pretty wild considering that every RAAW in the US has been shipped individually from Germany. Our goal is, of course, to make the ordering process and ownership experience as easy as possible. Having stock in the US would be ideal, but that comes with a...

4/24/2026 5:45am Most of you probably won't like hearing this. I certainly didn't. Earlier this week I had a chat with a guy who works in a product management role for Ralf Bohle GmbH, which is the owner of the Schwalbe tire brand. Mainly I asked a bunch of XC racing related questions, about compounds, casings, radial ply, rolling resistance testing, wheter we'll ever see the speediest XC casing with a black sidewall and why they felt they needed to change their naming scheme for casings and compounds. The gist of it is that they are hard at work behind the scenes...

4/13/2026 7:08am I spent a good chunk of last night trying to evaluate DJI's move through the lens of business and corporate strategy. While it might sound far-fetched, I genuinely believe DJI could be making a move that fundamentally changes the landscape of the e-mtb industry. A few thoughts: Amflow: I have it on good authority that Fox's number one customer is Amflow. If true, that should signal to the industry that Amflow is not a demo product. It's a company going after the likes of Specialized, Trek, Giant and other major incumbents. To add, there is nothing holding them back from...

3/27/2026 7:55am Unfortunately I'm an idiot, so I'll answer your question even if it is sarcastic. I found a known value that's easy to measure, the rear brake rotor. I set it to 203mm (as mentioned in a bike check from my memory) 16.2cm = 6.377 inch, rounded up however the app used rounds things and also not a perfect angle. Closest match for phone size would be a Iphone 16/17 pro max at 16.3 cm or a google pixel 9/10 at 6.3 inches. I'm going to go with the iphone 16/17 pro max. I should touch grass. I'm also either going...

3/23/2026 12:59pm Not sure how it's done in North America or even other places in Europe, but at least here in Slovenia ski resorts aren't the owners of the land under the groomed slopes. So this is a major problem making bike parks, agreeing on land access. Grooming snow on a meadow is a whole different ballpark than making dirt canals in said meadow, doubly so when cows graze there in the summer. As for ski resorts vs. bike park, skiing on-piste and riding bikes in a bike park aren't really analogues. When you take into account how technically demanding skiing is...

3/19/2026 7:41am In line with the downtube storage talk, is there someone making flask/bottle for this purpose? Or do folks just use a running flask like the Hydraflask and hope the top fits in the downtube opening? I would genuinely be interested in a bike-specific version that I could throw in there for longer rides.

3/12/2026 6:41am To go along with this, John Karrasch has been doing a lot of tire testing (via Chung method) and recently posted this one for free on his Patreon. 32" Aspen STs over rough cobbles were ~6% faster when you include rolling resistance (9% faster) and aero drag penalty of the larger wheel system. More 29” v 32” Aspen testing… Rough...

3/2/2026 6:45am Here's a rough idea. I'm sure there are some details missing, and despite my best efforts, this rabbit hole has some twists. So you have Mark Hancock, co-founder of PACS Group, owner of 323 skilled nursing facilities in 17 states. Current net worth estimated at $2.4 billion. PACS went public on the NYSE in 2024 at $21/share, currently at ~$36.50, and Hancock reportedly still holds 35%. The chart, since IPO had some wild moments, but seems to be back on track. Obviously, a very successful entrepreneur at this stage. In April of 2024, Hancock's own PV3 Investments (later PV3 Enterprises)...

2/25/2026 11:03am So something to note on pricing that is coming through. and this is not meant to be a political post. but the new steel tariffs HIGHLY affect bike prices. ESPECIALLY e-bikes. basically all the bike companies have to figure out the percentage of steel in a bike (HS, bearings, cassette, motors) and then that times the pricing of the bike etc. And these are not cheap... like some bikes increasing close to $1k just on tariff prices.... (cross posted in tech rumors)

2/4/2026 6:34am Interesting to see that on both the new Trek XC bikes, they don't have crazy negative stems. One appears to have a two piece setup whereas the other is a one piece RSL edition.
