i'm trying get that. we have all our past surveys and trends at the bottom of this page - https://www.vitalmedianet.com/vital-mtb - but we never actually did a trend graphic with bike type/travel. here's 2017 for instance - the breakdown was diff over the years.

I'm fairly certain I want something in the 150-160mm rear travel range. This is actually being decided primarily due to me wanting a 160mm fork. I think having a fork around 160mm with 36mm stanchions is where I want to go, and a balanced f/r suspension seems nice to me, especially if I want a 27.5" rear wheel... I would be open to the idea of a well-managed 140mm rear suspension platform. For example, 140mm with rearward axle path. If you'd asked me a year or more ago what my ideal travel bike was, I would have quickly answered a 170mm enduro type. Beginning of '23 I got a Nomad 6 and love(d) it. It pedals really well for how much travel it has, but has enough suspension that it can erase poor line choice and handle a few days per year at the bike park. Another breakout topic from Tech Rumors and it has to do with bikes and travel and if the industry trend is to have bikes get more travel when a new model is released. Our 2024 survey is complete...THANK YOU to all who participated. We'll dig into more in the future, but let's talk bike travel with some data about the amount of travel on bikes riders currently own vs. what they plan on buying. Couldn't agree more, so many people getting angry about misinformation and conjecture. World Cup racing has been in flux since it's inception. This is just the next change in a long line of changes. Seems to me that the main source of anger on the forums and comments sections is that it's no longer "free" to watch DH racing. But for those of use who have paid to watch the DH racing (especially the womens) has been some of the best ever. What I gather from this forum is that the World Cup should be free to enter for anyone...

I have been extremely humbled. I recently got my first mountain bike. I’ve always ridden moto and offroad type racing. (Dirtbikes) I’ve skated, skied. I’ve always looked at MTB and thought how much I wanted to do it but never really had the chance. I finally got my first MTB the other day and went on a nice mountain trail for my first time. Big fan of snowshoe. Both riding there as a customer and watching world cups as a spectator. But riding hareball 3 days in a row and risking your life on it in a race run doesn’t sound super fun to me. But that’s also the beauty of professional racing. Snowshoe regularly delivered great racing, a mix up in results, and was the only round in the us at the time. Impossible to argue the stop wasn’t good for the sport and added variety to the schedule.
