What a depressing set of comments today. Biking is a hobby, people can enjoy it as they wish. Get over yourselves and let people be happy. Complaints about other peoples opinions are not tech rumors.

I was the one who broke the Scalpel, and I’m not surprised I did - overshot the landing of a large jump for an XC bike, landing in the pocket between the landing and the flat ground after it. Huge bottom out. I corrected Kaz at Pinkbike’s quote - he had flatteringly guessed me to be 190lbs, whereas I am 220lbs. Nothing fishy. I wholeheartedly believe the Scalpel is fit for purpose and that it was my fault! Was having far too much fun and got carried away.

Just wanted to throw this out there. But for X-games, we all got paid for showing up. For our rights to be on the broadcast. Got a cheque from the Walt Disney Corp. It was 1000 USD. This was in 2013. If you want a shorter offset on your dual crown fork, you can always just flip the crowns backwards and re-install the stanchions (assuming your crowns have offset). I run a 56mm offset boxxer on my Spire with backwards crowns. This reduces the offset to 36mm. The turning radius is just enough to not notice. I also had to make sure my tire wouldn't hit the frame before bottom out since the reduced offset brings it closer to the down tube.
