As someone who shot a bunch of those Vital slideshows during the peak EWS years, I recall that being the case too. For fans of the enduro format the long form coverage was great and the slideshows told a compelling story, especially over two day races. But for the average viewer or MTB race fan it never really got the same kind traction as DH content, even when the industry marketing and money was moving away from DH in favor of the EWS at that time. Not to be that guy that responds twice, but I often wondered if and how attention spans and social media played into the demise of the enduro format as well. I remember a decade ago long form photography essays and longer recap videos were the norm and celebrated, I think people's ability to appreciate that kind of content has significantly waned. Obviously that's far from the whole story but I wonder about how it played into it.

I agree with Jessie Melamed. This is an opportunity for some sort of international series to regrow without the pressure of having to answer to a giant corporation about viewership and advertising revenue. Seems like there is a new gen of racers really fired up about the format.

Agreed, the coverage from 2016-2019 was great and never left me wanting more, there was so much coverage back then, including more than enough IG stories where you could watch the action "live" and the ~30min recaps on YT were awesome and no clue why PB stopped doing the "Photo Epic" recaps either. They main appeal back then were all the unique and exotic locations they were going, OZ, NZ, Chile, Madeira. Drool worthy stuff. I would regularly throw those recap vids up while riding the turbo trainer during to the winter months and fantasize about riding somewhere other than...

Couple insights Yeti MT coming very soon. Some shops already have them New Specialized enduro coming. My guess is march/april 2027. Apparently specialized believes it will sell better than the stumpy 15 which was one of there best selling bikes. No clue on design, just being told it’s coming

Ollie with Forbidden Bikes was bombing around at Mount Washington today on an unmarked frame resembling the eeb layout but the front triangle appeared to be slimmed down with a more conventional BB area. Had a Lyrik on it, no pictures unfortunately.

Spoiler alert: EVERYTHING breaks. Companies design as best they can within the tolerances their design will accommodate and their margins can afford. Communicating clearly there are limits is proactive, nothing more. I recall designing custom bikes for big chonky boys (eg 150kg plus) and in addition to specifying a limit we also specified very frequent service inspections, because at that size anything can catastrophically fail. I recall seeing one dude every week for bolt checks etc.

Medium-travel Yeti incoming. Release iminent. Long-chainstay fans rejoice: Size L has a 450mm rear center. Geometry is very middle-of-the-road otherwise, in a good way. Size L has 480mm reach. Stack could be a little taller, I guess (- 635mm for Size L).
