So wierd if true not sure the deal there and a downer if true. A fast exciting racer is exactly that regardless.

Such a bummer, I got my start working there as an intern in the early 90's. It was l more of a 'zine' then, we still pasted the thing together with wax. So many fun memories, but print publishing is an incredibly rough business these days. Thank you to the original crew of Maurice, Elaine, Mark, and Karl. I hope you're all doing well and good luck in your future endeavours.

bummer for real. i grew up just outside PIttsburgh, so dirt rag is something i've pretty much always associated with mountain biking. word on the street is dirt fest, as it stands, is not happening - but people involved are seeing if the venues still want to hold events. i'd suspect they'd need to find a new title sponsor.

The proto Supreme Vallnord were racing on last year is now official; "The benefits are numerous. The stiffness has been increased to gain precision and avoid any loss of energy. With a new idler pulley position, the pedalling efficiency has been improved. The new kinematics combined with a new main pivot point allows the bike to be more nimble, and allows the rider to reduce the SAG without losing any comfort."

Regarding Prokop: Rock Machine is Czech ”value” style brand, that offers a lot of bang (read: specs) for the buck. Basically generic Taiwanese frames with better parts than the big guys. Most Eastern European countries have such brands: Poland (Kross, Romet), Slovakia (CTM, Kelly's), Bulgaria (RAM, Cross, Drag, Pulse), Hungary (Magellan, Gepida), Czech Republic (Author, Rock Machine) etc. MSC is a Spanish brand that the Lacondeguy brothers raced for. They have also run the European Maxxis program back in the day and Fabien Barel raced for them, but also David Vasquez (the current UCI technical delegate for DH) Mickael Pascal...

probably not dissimilar to a DH racers. there's base pay from primary sponsors, maybe some secondary sponsors provide a stipend. then there's bonuses based on performance / results.
