Great thread I too took the Big S with a heavy does of cynicism even though I do think we tend to be moving to an overly critical mindset here - I think a lot of people and companies are trying to do the right thing but there a lot of real factors that make this harder than the keyboard warriors are willing to concede. Like Jeff said, I also find Patagonia to be quite pedantic, especially in their marketing. However, they put their money where their mouth is. The Worn Wear thing is awesome - the attention to detail...

on 1.8 i don't necessarily disagree, however word is out that they exist at the OEM level, at least from Suntour and RS. If they're already being manufactured, I don't see what would stop other bike brands designing bikes that use them (and thus ordering for OEM spec).

my suspicion on this is that there's a very good chance it'll be a lighter weight dual crown fork for enduro or (gasp) e-bikes. whether or not it'll get the 1.8 steerer idk (i personally think it's less likely) but I think it would make sense to use a 20mm axle.

I wish I lived somewhere where running a dual crown on an Enduro bike was actually something to consider.

Most recent meeting with land managers, and one of those groups was from the "california state parks"....after an all day affair of P4B talking about the benefits of eMTB's, we broke out into some round table discussions. I was with Cal State Park group, he said, and i've said this on other forums: "We have sat here all day, heard about how you are all going to sell more bikes, more people getting outside, all this is great, but-we didn't ask for this, we are under funded, under staffed and can't handle more people in the parks system"....it went into...

if that's true, they're not being very vocal about it. all other changes to programming have had press release sent. hope it is true.

that's kinda what i meant that the increased diameter would allow it to flow more easily, maybe to allow for better fine tuning? i dunno. I too probably wasn't using the correct jargon either. i definitely enjoy geeking out on this stuff too. this looks more like a refinement of the existing design rather than something all new from the ground up, but we'll see once they release details on it.
