I'm going with the foam to protect thr valve.. You can see where it conforms to the spoke and it looks kinda porous when you zoom in.. Never heard of this but I guess it could help prevent a rock from taking out a valve..

5/2/2026 7:43am This was my thought too. I have a few versions of the ochain and the variances are minimal. SRAM could use a small arm spider for different splines and offsets that bolts onto the ochain mech since it's essentially an oversized chainring.

I agree with that analysis for almost every type of component but I would have thought O-Chain would be an outlier. I can't see that many OEMs putting O-Chain on bikes other than DH bikes, primarily because it's a large cost they can cut that a non-enthusiast consumer that walks into a shop will not notice if it's a regular chainring instead, but will notice the extra couple hundred dollars in cost. DH bikes are also so much less of the overall market share, and most of them are bought by hardcore enthusiasts that are likely to customize the components...

I wrote this on Pinkbike but will crosspost here to as I firmly believe ABS should not be involved in WCDH. I'm all for innovation in DH and I am absolutely fine with electronics in suspension but I strongly believe that ABS has no place in competitive DH. Braking ability and threshold braking are massively important skill that do separate riders. Having a system that would theoretically allow a rider to just full pull brake but not lock the wheels would be a huge advantage on most tracks and certainly would for low grip tracks or conditions. The first race of the World Cup Downhill season means plenty of new things to try. Would be nice but I believe CX gen 5 has a different offset for a 55mm chain line than Avinox.

They look a lot like the crappy stamped RT66 rotors. In the first picture you can even see where the poor flatness is causing the pad to not contact the rotor fully.

4/28/2026 10:15am My red splatter Mavens were like this, every 3 months on the dot. I replaced pretty much every part but the pistons and seals and nothing helped. Changed to the teal splatter and they've been flawless for going on 9+ months. I have no explanation or helpful input, just commiserating

4/27/2026 6:45am Having tried the TC in the rear, Gravity/Soft, the take that makes sense in my mind... the new stiffer gravity casing seems to support the sidewall more which allows the radical tread to flex and do its thing, rather than with the previous gravity casing which itself would flex rather then the tread.

Picked up a Tacky Chan and Romy radial and took them out for a spin. The radial TC definitely feels more compliant and less twitchy at speed than the 2.4 version. Less gap between the knobs means not getting caught in no man's land when I can't get the bike leaned over enough to fully engage the side knobs. Definitely looses some the snappiness vs the 2.4, but I think it's a more well rounded front tire and rolls faster than the MM. The Romy rolls well and offers solid grip. I always felt like the Albert on the rear...

The damper itself is basically the same as the 3.1(with a few good changes), but our 3.1 piston fits perfectly. The fork chassis itself seems really good."

Got the new tires. These things feel burly af. The gravity pro casing is noticeably more firm in hand than the regular radial gravity casing. The new TC pattern looks great too. Looking forward to shredding these.

Haven't ridden the updated Gravity Pro yet, so i couldn't tell you from personal experience. I'm a 200lb enduro rider, and i generally find the Trail Pro to be sufficient. From a technical standpoint; The previous Gravity Pro was a 4 layers of 67epi carcass under the tread, and 4 on the sidewall. Snakeskin on sidewall only, and apex supportive layer up the sidewall. The updated Gravity Pro (where PRO is in blue) is now 6 layers under the tread, and 4 on the sidewall. Snakeskin is the same, and maybe Apex to? I can't find documentation about it, but...
