Let’s not let the OG rumors thread saga end talking about folks saddle nose angle preference. In the nature of rumors: - heard rumblings from a brand that makes a flex pivot XC bike of pushing the flex pivot into larger travel aka trail categories. Could be a replacement for the tallboy. Bringing the Blur LT back? - spotted a production looking fox 40 in the wild - generative arch - regular sticker kit and gloss - new 40 and 38 release before sea otter? Back to back days like the 36 and 34sl?

This. Oven cleaner removes the annodizing (or annodized color) it can make it so easy. But I found some parts fully resisted the oven cleaner. I don't know the why for the resistance.

Soaking parts in oven cleaner works well for stripping, and then purple scotch brite pads to further clean it up. Sandpaper away for the polished finish. Mother's auto wax to really make it shine.

I polished the seat clamp, axle, brake hose ends, and crank arms on my first Ripmo. I used a bench grinder with a well worn stainless steel wire brush wheel to mechanically strip the black ano from the parts. Time over pressure. Deep scratches greatly increase polishing effort. Built shine from there with varying grades of both scotch brite and polishing compound. The better your final finish, the less maintenance required to maintain. No clear coating required. Still running all of these parts on a Ripmo V2 and they’ve held up well.

With a saddle angled nose up, it is much easier to move the bike around underneath you and get your butt more towards the rear axle. Don’t believe me, that’s fine. Look at all the World Cup bikes or even bikes at a local dh race. I don’t love the idea of buying something else additional for my already expensive bike(s). I did try this though with a bike that has a 210 dropper, but needed a 240. It now makes it much more rideable and keeps me from having to slam the seat when things get steep going down...

It's very useful if you ride steep both up and down. More efficient uphill position so you don't have to fight to not slip back on the saddle. On the way down it provides extra clearance so it's like having a longer dropper.

tech rumors forum update - you've spoken and have been heard we'll lock out this thread at the end of the year (no matter what, it's just too darn big now), and will carry on with yearly tech rumors threads that will be stickied for easy participation. the 2026 thread is already underway here (not yet stickied) i just want to thank everyone for their feedback and insight on what this piece of the vital community means.

I’m still hoping they’re developing a wireless bar actuated Switchgrade. There’s real biomechanical advantage to be had in XC racing. Would also get rid of the need for crazy low drop stems we already see and that are only gonna get lower with 32in wheels. Those racers already take the weight penalty of an electronic drivetrain which offers zero biomechanical advantage. A bar mounted way to actuate the Switchgrade could also be sold to the all mountain guys like us quite easily.

Yeah, the V10 was always lower link driven and that's why SC wanted to move the whole lineup to that layout, because it had benefits to the suspension performance. But the way the V10 is laid out makes sense for a DH bike, but not for something that needs a long dropper post and a water bottle. That's why it took so long for the rest of the lineup to move over.
