Also, my two cents is that you need less stopping power with lighter wheels and tires, which you should be running on a Spur. The DH casings, alloy rims, and often inserts on bigger bikes take A LOT more brake to slow down, but that isn't the case with thinner casings and light wheels. I noticed it the difference in stopping power and stopping distance when I went from 27.5 wheels to 29" wheels on my primary enduro bikes. Everything else was the same on the bike (same tires, same-ish wheels, same brakes, same rotors), but my brakes could not...

Anther great review! I really like the roll compliance explanation. Never fully understood that concept till now. I can see how valuable that could be when tuned to work with the kinematic and suspension tune.

Ready for each and every down vote. Where the hell did the “blade” thing come from. The thing your finger touches is a lever. Normally on a bicycle a first class lever. It is connected to a master cylinder. When we had cantilever brakes I don’t remember anyone calling them “blades”. No other industry calls what is used as the interface where the human interacts with the braking system a blade. I’m sure I’m “Old man yelling at clouds” Come at me bro

I am 100% on the Manitou fork cult member list. I have a mezzer pro and in my opinion it is the best non usd fork a person can buy. It always feels composed. Its so easy to adjust I am constantly ride to ride making little changes based on how I'm feeling and what im riding. Smooth jumpy rides, no issue I tweak for that. Going to ride lots of chattery rough terrain, I soften it up and linear out my settings a hair with the IRT. The HBO in a fork can not be understated too. I've taken...

You don't have to apologize to anyone - this is how ya figure out what you like. I have Fox, RS and Manitou - like them all though I'm super careful w/ Fox and its near impossible to fully service at home w/o weird tools while RS & Mani aren't. Anyway - ya like what ya like and if people don't like that... who cares. I'm not looking for a fleet of back-patting comments here so be honest, that's all this is - talk.

I know this is battling a windmill, but still... Everything flexes. A hardtail, a rigid bike, the wheels, the front triangle, the fork, EVERYTHING. The thing is, the amount the rear triangle of a hardtail (or the amount a flex stay of an XC bike) flexes and impacts the 'suspension' performance of everything is negligible to what a suspension system does (flex stay or otherwise) travel and/or force control wise. So the effect the flex stay itself has on suspension performance vs. any other design with a link back at the axle can be ignored. Even more so, the twanginess...

I got some new tires, inserts, tape, and sealant. Kryptotals, which ended up being some of the tightest beads I’ve ever tried to put on. Front went on well. Back broke two tire levers. The second broke as the tire went on, so I had to crack it open to get the lever piece out. Got some sealant in, and tried pumping it up. And tried again, and again and again and again. I couldn’t get it to seat. Let it sit in the sun, used some soapy water, everything. Finally, finally the bead was seated and it held air...

- One loyal customer had just purchased a new high end road bike, did a few rides and called in complaining of BB/drivetrain clicking. They weren't technically competent to troubleshoot over the phone so they brought the bike in. Roughly an hour drive each way.
