9/20/2023 7:48pm The D1 model will have the OTT coil. There's going to be an SL upgrade option which removes the OTT but adds an air chamber.

9/18/2023 8:08pm Seems like their mule could use different "main" pivots; one for an idler and one without (and you can see the resulting differences in motion ratio in the graph, with the idler system having slightly lower leverage in the first half of travel and a barely more progressive end behavior). Probably a solid chance we'll see the 'production concept' within a year or two. You can also see an aluminum e-bike frame elsewhere in the video as well:

9/17/2023 7:56pm Pinkbike is the key MTB brand for Outside Inc (Velo for Road). They have already killed or sold of Bike, Beta, Cycling Tips, Peleton. Love it or hate it Pinkbike is one of, if not the largest cycling websites globally and advertisers will spend their money to put their brand in front of the most sets of eyes. Majority of the other cycling "news" sites all rely on ad revenue to pay the bills. Handful have subscription based revenue (Escape Collective), however that's the minority as mountain bikers are happy to spend $10,000's on a bikes and related product but...

9/15/2023 8:31pm Part 2 - We are our only saviors By definition Enduro is a niche sport with a knowledgeable core fanbase. Lean into that and TELL THE F'N STORIES. This industry is full of creative, passionate people - Organizers need to enable them to do their thing and get out of the way. Hire Sleeper CO to produce a 3 part series in the style of Earthed. Ask Sven (or Sven 2.0 or whoever) to take some photos and talk to a few riders and put together a thing at each round and have it live on the event website. Send...

9/15/2023 8:31pm Given all of the incessant whining and generally unconstructive feedback scattered across various forum topics and comments sections this question has been on my mind a lot lately. Enduro brought me back from an almost 20 year hiatus from racing bikes and for the last 10+ years has been the catalyst for skill development, pushing myself athletically, traveling the world and expanding my comfort zone in so many ways. I've raced countless local enduros, a handful North American rounds of the EWS and multiple week long blind Trans style races - all as packfill in the vetex or masters class...

9/15/2023 8:30pm I always felt like EDR/EWS was never a great marketing vehicle in the form it had, and this isn't supposed to be a knock against the athletes in enduro but the riders most people look up to are in WC downhill so thats the one with a better chance to sell bikes for them. Its like they thought trail bikes were the bigger sellers so they needed racing on those bikes to drive the sales when it doesn't really matter, people will follow a brand but not really the exact model. Santa Cruz knew this from the get go and...

9/15/2023 8:30pm This combined with what Jack Moir recommended in the recent downtime podcast: reseed before the final stage and broadcast that live. Even it if is just the top 10.

9/15/2023 8:30pm The format that was in place 3-4 years ago. Doesn’t need to be live, just good quality track previews, when Rick built hype about who was where in the standings etc, followed by a “how it went down” after show race that lasted 30 mins or so - I used to watch every one. I think splitting it back up over 2 days properly and ditch the queen stage idea.

9/15/2023 8:29pm With the recent Ibis announcement that they are pulling out of supporting an EDR team, and the abysmal coverage of the sport this year (and prior years), one has to wonder if the end as we know it for top tier enduro racing is near. The ROI for most brands has to be near zero. Yes, if you are supporting Jesse or Richie there may be a strong argument to be made that the juice is worth the squeeze but most anyone else has to be a difficult to explain burn within the marketing budget of just about any other...

9/10/2023 4:57pm If your friend is using the Endurance rubber I am not really surprised. I got a chance to look at the whole line up at a Cycling fair last summer and while the Soft and SuperSoft seemed very promising, just by touch you could tell that the Endurance was hard, fast rebounding and plastic-y. It is by no means equivalent of riding the tire as casing will come into play and some rubbers are deceptive but it usually is a decent indicator when you know what good rubber feels in hand.

9/10/2023 4:56pm The Xynotal looks to me to be pretty similar in tread pattern to the Dissector, so I'm not surprised it's not the grippiest tire out there on roots etc. Demoing a rim and having the tire hold up is a good vote of confidence! Definitely the kind of thing that's kept me on the DH22's for so long. I'd also say that the rolling resistance comparison is a good thing. I've pedaled a friend's Range with Maxxis Assegai/DHRII, and it felt a whole lot more sprightly than mine with the DH22's. Though I can't recall if they were DD or...

9/10/2023 5:11am IMO setting volume spacers is more faff - you have to open up your fork repeatedly to get things dialed. I totally get it when you say that triple air chambers can be hard to pump up, but I find that's not really a problem if you use a high-PSI shock pump.
