Also considering that was probably the most common complaint with the Dreadnought...

Im still annoyed that DH frames that can fit waterbottles dont come with the mounts, makes park laps so much more enjoyable not being thirsty in the heat. Also, holy rear centre length batman! S3 has a 460 rear centre BEFORE sag, that is one long as rear end.

Yeah, don't know the rationale behind not having integrated reach adjustment. Maybe they don't think it's a big enough issue. Works and Wolftooth make 2-degree angle headsets that will work with a 49-49 HT, and Works make a 7mm reach offset headset for that HT as well. I do like the adjustable dropouts.

I know you can run a reach adjust headset pretty easily, but I'm a bit disappointed it doesn't have an integrated reach adjustment like the new V10 or Glory. I do also wonder why they went with that a 49mm headtube as opposed to 56mm, which is a bit more common and would offer more space for aftermarket geo adjustment.

I know two of the three stores that got bought up and flipped into Trek stores around me are failing miserably. The largest store they bought is doing 30% of what the previous owners had it doing due to the fact there is no longer choice. The prior store had Trek, Giant, Pinarello, Pivot and Cervelo, among carrying your usual variety of tires and accessories from QBP and the like. They also cycle through employees at an alarming rate because of low wages and from what I understand to be ridiculous expectations of their employees and heavy pushing of drinking...

Automotive systems have built in redundancy. The BBW and SBW systems have hydraulic and mechanical backups in case of failure. (I'm a brake controls engineer). True brake by wire, electro-mechanical (EPB's), would still have a secondary redundant power source, possibly even a third, to prevent any 'no brake' scenarios. Wireless braking is sketchy and I'd personally never use it. Always have redundancy.

They need to update the Dreadnaught anyways. I bet it will be a 170/170 bike. And maybe different linkages for DH applications.

We also talked about that Morzine plan. B-practice pod talked about that being a better use of money than chasing regional races all over the United States. Right now, we all love traveling to races and such together, but we could easily send him alone to Europe for the summer for the amount of money we spend traveling regionally as a family to races (not that we'd ever just foot the bill for him to head to Europe).

It's a tough road but a fun one, I would suggest your son get some cash from some local business outside the industry and take off for Europe for the summer. Find a roommate in Morzine or in Finale Ligure then hitch a ride or get to know people to hit few races in Europe. It's the hard way but he will see tremendous growth by being exposed to a new environment. It worked well in the past for other Americans like Dak or Dante and for a bunch of kiwis too. It's really difficult to find a team and...
