12/29/2023 4:42am Thanks for sharing your insightful opinions on the nationhood of Wales and Scotland, however I feel they're wasted on the Team Rumors forum. Have you considered a speaking tour of Wales and Scotland? That way you could re-educate the locals and correct their misunderstandings. I'm sure you'd receive a warm welcome.

12/29/2023 4:41am What are you on about? Danny is pretty active on social media and has great engagement with his posts, 230k instagram followers and 70k subscibers (50k more than Troy Brosnan btw) on his youtube which he posts good videos on about once a month. Of the top dogs hes for sure one of the more visible outside of racing...

12/28/2023 5:38am John is a smart man... sees the writing on the wall... Gwin likely racing only 1-2 more seasons. He's in a 'real' job role at Intense (product development). He lives in California, 3,000 miles away from his racer. I'd not be surprised at all if he took a full-time gig at Intense and stopped doing world cups with Gwin. That said, if Gwin is doing his own team with Intense frames, I could see John keeping his full time position at Intense and ALSO go on the road to the 7 world cups and world champs to wrench for Aaron...

12/28/2023 5:31am I would be surprised to hear the frameworks team has a million dollar budget. Teams with consistent podium riders can cost less than that… junior salaries like Asa are nowhere near that of a top elite rider. It seems like there was hints at the riders getting a share in the company as part of their contract compensation too.

12/28/2023 5:30am Either way, Nekos done an impressive job with promotion and sponsorship, since 100 bikes haven’t even yet been sold. But somehow he’s pulling in a million dollars to run three riders on the WC circuit. Three riders, probably two mechanics, paying Martin Whiteley, travel, salary, taxes - surely this venture requires a cool mil.

12/28/2023 5:04am Re Brosnan: I don't know his situation, but here is my hypothesis. He's newly married, has a hobby farm with horses and cool shit and it's Summer Holidays here in Aus (Everyone stops working for a month lol) It's 35 degrees every day, the suns out, the beach is ready and the beers are cold! Last thing I'd want to do now is head on a 24 hour flight back to Europe on the covid tin can, shiver my balls off in some French ski village away from your loved ones when he could be eating Prawns and smashing beers...

12/28/2023 5:03am My understanding was also that the MS Mondraker setup was closer to a privateer setup than a factory team. I seem to recall Jacob saying he just got a bike and transport. I specifically remember Brook complaining about the short stem that Mondraker were pushing a few years ago, and that it took him half a season to realise he needed a standard 50mm. But other than that, he seemed to love the bike. That could be wrong, but then again so is 99% of the thread.

12/28/2023 4:48am Would also argue Jackson isn't the first "manicured", Bruni and Vergier were raised together by their dads who were themselves world class riders. They were pretty much full time MTB all their lives. Similar story for Daprela, except it was his godfather, Nico Vouilloz that would drive him to events and shout advice from the side of the track.

12/28/2023 4:47am I think stating Jackson was “pushed” is a reason to disagree with that post. “Supported” is much more the scenario.

12/28/2023 4:45am I think Gwin mentioned it in a podcast, that Jackson is the first really manicured bike kid. As noted he was pushed into YouTube videos at a really young age. Was already pushed into spot light at crankworks. It’s the ‘hockey kid’ mentality where the kids are pushed to be the next big thing. Not taking anything from his talent, hard work or style. Just an observation over the years. I hope he makes bank he has the means to dominate for a few years.

12/28/2023 4:44am Lots of love and expectations for Jackson Goldstone in this forum; and he truly deserves it too. But let's not forget that Jordan Williams is also a very talented young rider (won his debut race in elites on a NEW bike), is on a damn good team, and nearly beat Goldstone to the jr overall last year.

12/28/2023 4:43am That's mostly a recency bias. Every single winner or near winner over the years has had something truly unique that makes them pop. Hill's turning speed & momentum generation The Alien's precision & technical perfection Lopes - highest RPM's on earth Palmer - so much like Hill but damn near boring to see in person it was so effortless Rennie - Power, technicality, precision & brute force. Could do BMX park moves on a DH Kovarik - Maximum power & speed. An NFL Safety on 2 wheels Gwin - Strength & an ability to turn on a dime GM -...

12/28/2023 4:41am “Dude that would’ve been so sick if I landed it!” —me, when I was a kid, completely missing the point. This is why we still run em, right? J.Goldstone is so rad, I’m rooting for him. But the only sure thing is there’s no sure thing, and that’s why I watch. I get the impression that he’s fully put together, very comfortable in his position, and that appendix shit can only serve to make him even stronger mentally—he lost like 20% of his body weight in a couple weeks, and still showed up to race? Gnarly! But yeah, even if...
