Me too but I don't trust my welds enouth to change the steerer tube... so straight steerer it is!

Yeah, this is very similar to Ruben's bikes. Fingers crossed was a huge inspiration. The main differences being the longer, slacker and lower geo, more travel and the addition of a shock yoke to get a more progressive rear end. The manitou forks didn't feel beefy enough for this build. Ruben even managed to destroy one in a video i saw. They also only come with a tapered steerer and are 5x more expensive than used 26" fork so I made my own. I made a schematic picture of the BB in paint that you can see above. Hope it...

Couldn't find a pic but it is 16 mm flex tube put inside 2 pc of regular pipe insulation. Put it around the rim and then cut it mabe 30 mm short. Then you put some elastic rope inside, stretch it a bit and tie it up to a circle. The tension in the rope combined with the 30 mm gap you left will make sure it doesn't rattle around in there when the tire is pumped up (the foam will compress due to the air pressure). $5-6 per insert and lasts more than a season for me. I agree, sounds like a bad idea. I calculated this and since the glued surface area is so large it's actually way overkill. Also the sleeves are capped off at the end so it probably wouldn't go through even if the glue failed.
