Man you can buy a lot of gas before financing that car! Specially if you own your truck out right.

Just took delivery of a Tesla (that I financed) just so I could ignore this (douchebag alert!!!). I know, financing a depreciating asset sounds like poor math but gas in my truck + ICE cost to maintain is a lot more than financing cost + taxes on a new car + depreciation factor. Electricity in Idaho is almost free, so that's nice too. (for those paying attention, the right call would be "Brines, just go buy a prius or even an outback...your math only works at 17mpg) What gas prices is impacting is my willingness to load up the old...

I think prices in general will be affecting us all..here in Europe (I live in Switzerland)...due to the war in Ukraine, COVID and other circumstances, things have gotten pretty expensive. The usual weekend getaways, for example Finale Ligure is a 4 hour drive and the gas, shuttle prices have literally sky rocketed - around a 20%-30% increase which makes things even expensive for us against the euro. Luckily we have enough trails around where I stay but who doesn't like Italy right?

figured it's a topical question considering many of us have to drive to the trails and/or drive far to go somewhere special. maybe gas prices already are impacting your rides or trips to ride?

Okay, lets keep playing "finance class with Jeff" since people seem interested. I've already articulated this, but maybe a real world example of how it works will help ? Like most people, I plan on holding the car for 2-4 years (or keeping it for like...20, more on that later). If I sell the car at year 2, here is the math. After two years I will have paid $19,000 in principal and $2500 in interest. The million dollar question (or $54,000 question) is how much will the car be worth in 2 years? Considering supply constraints of rare earths...

Are you factoring in the opportunity cost of explaining your purchase and talking about your Tesla vs. doing something productive? Smile Just ribbing ya, I wish I had an electric car. I was fortunate to be a position to buy a car early in the pandemic when dealers were virtually giving them away. I snagged a fully loaded 2017 Passat with low miles for $18k with 0% financing. It gets 30-40mpg, which is more than double what my well-loved 2006 Tacoma gets. Even still, yes, we will be trying to minimize the frequency of long road trips this summer. I'll...

I have wondered this for a while as well. If I'm allowed to say it, being the one who is doing it, I think it's insane how fast we ride gnarly terrain after only one look at it. It makes for loose riding and wild moments, and this is why I have thought Vital Raws in the past were sweet. Unfortunately those moments are hard to catch on camera as there is so much track that we race. More cameras would be ideal, I feel like last year we had a lot more camera's out on track getting footage for...

New Canyon LUX to be revealed very soon, possibly as early as this Weekend. I don't have much to tell you, there's no surprises with this one. From what my contact told me it's more evolution than revolution. It's basically exactly what you'd expect from a XC race bike in 2022. A little lighter, a little more progressive angles, headset-integradted...

Sorry to hijack the Topic but: SHOULD Every bike come with replaceable threaded inserts??? After owning a Canyon bike with these inserts im a huuuge fan, Technically should make the frame last longer in situations. I remember stripping one on a Rocky Altitude '21 on an alloy frame and They werent going to warranty it - I sent my Torque wrench to them and they sent me a replacemant frame
