I see the appeal to yetis. 5k is a lot for a frame, and I want companies to keep prices down as much as the next guy, but honestly even 10k isn’t that much money for me to blow on a bike. I’m not for one minute suggesting that this particular bike is worth or not worth the price, but I know plenty of people these days with 10k plus bikes(often they have a few). Yeti is making these bike for those people. Having ridden a status and an Sb150, I would buy the yeti… All that being said one...

The high end brands have gotten to be like Porsche, BMW, Audi, Lexus, Acura, etc. All really good product that performs well. It comes down to feel and what brand the consumer likes. They're all good and perform at a very high level, but they feel quite different so perhaps that is what you're paying up for.

Prestige, heritage, the premium feel of the name? Pure value is not related to the bike itself anymore but to the brand. The question might be if they can still position themselves that way these days like they did 20 years ago without competitors. But as said, in the end, it is up to buyers and since Yeti is still on the market, there are probably buyers too.

Based off of a year of owning a Sb150 what are you paying for with the frame - Bearings and hardwear that are very weather/jet wash proof. When it comes down to it, it is quite a simple design with a predictable feel and you always seem to have loads of front end grip. The sizing is something other companies fail to nail in terms of long reach and low stand over/seattube length. The switch infinity link is totally user serviceable, checking bearings and maintaining the fox link is way easier than throwing bearings and bushings at previous bikes I’ve...

Bike looks sweet and it sounds like it rides sweet too. Pricey for sure but I bet they sell all or most of them in the first year or so of production. They are positioned as a premium brand and many customers go for that bling. In this case it sounds like the bike is a true racing machine and if it gives a dude the confidence to gap his pals on their local downward pitched trails before post ride beers I bet he'd be singin its praises and stoked on his purchase. Did anyone else see the Specialized sale...

Maybe the beloved Yaris analogy was the wrong one. New KIA then? Lol. As commented below to Jeff, the price is what it is and it’s way out of range for most riders. It doesn’t mean the bike doesn’t rip, however. To dock its performance based on price makes no sense. Can you get equally performing bikes for half the price? Definitely.

the high price almost seems irrelevant to call out anymore. it's like me whining about a tesla price vs a yaris price. if i could buy a tesla, i would, but i'm happy w/ the yaris and its 40mpg and getting me to-and-fro. if people have the means to afford a $10k bike and want to spend their money on it, they can. we called out the weakness of the wheel spec as the most glaring compared to other bikes in the price range. the sb160's performance seems to back up the price, but that doesn't mean a $3k bike...

Test rode a '22 Trek Top Fuel recently. 120/130. Similar to what I am reading here, I was pretty surprised by this bike. Fast, and the suspension worked very well. I actually wonder if I'd be faster on the Top Fuel on many of my local trails than on my SB150. These shorter travel bikes are pretty fun to ride.

Very excited for the Moir Rude showdown this season! Dick Rude is such a powerhouse. That 6" tree didn't stand a chance. Awesome to watch such power applied to pure mtb speed.

I love these things. They were actually super long reach for the time, about as long as the "forward geometry" mondrakers that came out like 4 years after these. One of the few bikes I'd happily ride from back then.

Cool bike!!! I rented a pitch many years ago while in Colorado on a family vaca. The bike was great! I'd never heard of the model at the time and I was realky surprised how fun it was. Nice retro build.

I get that but at the same time, if someone doesn't have enough health insurance to cover injuries without suing the freaking park and ruining everything for everyone, they don't need to be there in the first place. There is no good reason for any of this kind of shit. Its just stupid.

I’d love to see your data because the actual studies say the exact opposite. There are very few potential serious reactions to the vaccines compared to the multitude of long term complications that can result from contracting the disease. Speaking specifically about heart issues there is a greater chance that you end up with myocarditis from covid infection than from the vaccine: https://www.newscientist.com/article/mg25133462-800-myocarditis-is-more… https://www.nature.com/articles/s41591-021-01630-0
