I'm very glad they were able to produce a bike with some cable ports and it weighs an extra 3 pounds. Seriously, I hope that trend goes back the other way and all bikes have AT LEAST a stick on cable mount package sold with the frame or make some holes in the frame with some high quality plugs and...

Fox Added a comment about bike check Jason McRoy's Specialized S-Works Team FSR DH Edition

I raced one of these in '96 in the NORBA series and many local CO races. There were not a lot of these Specialized bikes around, I don't think that many were made and sold. Steel front triangle, alum seat and chain stays. This bike was tough and held up to a ton of abuse. These were early days of DH racing. It was one of the few early full suspension bikes you could just buy on the bike shop floor and all I could afford at the time for $2k as a lightly used bike from University Bikes in...

We chatted about including all those forks, but had to draw the line somewhere when it came to # of forks in the test. I think that the Edge, Bright Racing, and Nine. One are all unique and boutique enough to deserve their own review. Or comparison between them all would be really interesting.

Add a Zeb/38 as a control. Do it. It'd be a good test

I don't contest that people have had bad experiences with a Zeb, or any of the forks in this test. Shoot, I compared two bikes a few years ago that both had FOX Factory 36's, 150mm w/ Grip2, and the difference in stiction, air pressure, and damper settings was wild. However, I'll put my foot down and say that we don't give a sh*t about marketing hype. We like to know what a brand has done and why so that we can substantiate their claims on the trail. But we (Vital editorial crew) care way more about trying to give...

Fox Added a comment about feature Can a Pedal Kickback Denier See the Light?

8/16/2024 6:01am
Wonder if you'd feel a difference in rear suspension between an 18 and 36 tooth DT freewheel ratchet? As in, 18 tooth, more degrees till engagment, less pedal kickback... My Spur has a rear hub with like 3 degrees of engagement. It seems I can feel that more than the 36 tooth DT rear hub on my other bike. So what is causing all the racket back there? Probably largely just the simple fact that there is a metal chain and a rear derailleur moving all over the place and that chain is slapping the heck out of the frame...

They are heavy… and roll-resistant in Summer on asphalt with low air pressure sucks… but…you can‘t have it all… they are amazing! Have them on my Enduro now for a Year… and mounted them on my Downduro I love them! So just give them little more pressure for climbing on Asphalt… and you will live them too for sure!!!

Im on enduro casing soft front and dh casing soft rear. Coming from an assegai and dhr2 combo that were Exo + maxterra. Little bit heavier but not too bad. Uphill hasnt really felt harder probably partially due to that i also went from tubes to tubeless. Rolling resistance i havnt noticed it being slower to accelerate too. Maybe just a little bit but not a huge difference. Once i go super soft on the front tire it might be different

Have yet to try the Contis but very curious. Grip sounds great. How about weight and rolling resistance for trail riding?
Future is bright and it needs to be Last time an elite male won a UCI WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP from USA, Myles Rockwell in 2000, Sierra Nevada Spain-24yrs ago! Last time an elite female won a UCI WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP from USA, Leigh Donovan in 1995, Kirchzarten Germany-29yrs ago! (I was her mechanic then 70,000 people PAID $20usd to get into the gates at that race). We need some USA action back on top!

Could always stick some cable guides onto that sweet lookin paint if ya wanna go mechanical, but this does seem like a premature decision to spec a 2025 model without any sort of option for a cable drivetrain.

Track looks awesome! Love the old school flat grassy corners and natural terrain! This tyoe of terrain makes for really fun racing. Reminds me of Mt Snow, VT. Very stoked to see local DH racing popping up in so many places in the US.

Out of all the weirdo lifted vehicles used for MTB that I know and hang out with (2015 Forester, mid 2010s RAV4, late 2000s Highlander, diesel Jetta Wagon, Honda Fit), the most successful ones lift and stiffen. The Forester absolutely crushes gravel and washboard with stiffer suspension, when loaded with bikes and people.

Agree about the dissector. Rolls well, but 3c MaxxTerra in SW CO wears out very quickly in the rear. Specialized Eliminator T7 Grid Trail on the other hand, lasts really well and seems to roll pretty well in the rear.
