Need to resurrect the old Ridemonkey thread about all of those breaking. That was some internet gold.

I think they've pigeonholed themselves into it at this point - they don't want to piss off current Pivot owners by changing standards more than anything.

To be fair there's been talk of them folding for years.

I know this may sound crass, but the Rocky Mountain announcement, much like the GT announcement, doesn’t surprise me. Consolidation in the specialty cycling space has been anticipated for a long time. This consolidation doesn’t always mean brands acquiring other brands; it can also result from major players like Specialized or Trek dominating enough of the market to squeeze out mid-sized competitors. If a brand fails to offer something truly compelling—whether that’s performance, price, brand equity, reliability, or innovation—it’s going to struggle. Unfortunately, the nature of economies of scale makes this consolidation almost a self-fulfilling prophecy. To draw a parallel...

Suppose you're right lol, didn't bother reading very far, because I don't care for blister's bike stuff. Looks like no real reviews yet!

Very badly. Makes all imported frames and parts more expensive, passes on those costs to consumers. Frames and parts in the country are already discounted to sell, meaning they won't be ordering any more at a 10%+ increased price as they can't already move the cheaper ones. A universal tariff is a horrendous economic policy

I think it'll reinvigorate the used market a bit, for sure. TPC is probably drooling about it as we type/read.

So--I demoed to 120 this summer and really enjoyed the ride. Yetis tend to have great small-bump performance--it felt pretty great on fairly smooth trails. It was quiet and felt "taut" to me. I did feel that the technical climbing was just ok--I lost traction at times due to the stiff sag point. (But I'm used to a DW link)...

Shock and tire choice also point to the riding experience. 5010 is spec with burlier fork, shock, and tires. This points to intended use--not as fast/light, but beefier DH abilities.

Regarding price, while of course for various reasons companies will try higher and higher prices, I think they are currently experiencing some pushback which will only get worse. From 2010 to 2019, you used to be able to buy a 6k bike for 5k, then sell it at the end of season for 3-4k and use that towards the next one. During Covid, things went a bit nuts and new bike prices went up (at the very least they were selling at MSRP instead of -10 or -20%), but if you had a nice bike in your garage you could...

This just seems like a generic overview of the different racing disciplines. Where are you guys seeing that they changed the rules?

This has been discussed previously but the TLDR is that T-type doesn't slow the shifts down or know when to shift, it's just a byproduct of where the ramps are in the cassette. Smashing through gears on a mechanical T-type won't shift faster or slower, as the cassette is the same and there are only so many ramps to engage the shift.

I have heard the complete opposite from a geo perspective (steeper HTA). When the Sentinel came out, there was no Spire. Now there is the Spire so Transition can now make the Sentinel more of an "all mountain" bike and keep the Spire as their big enduro bike.
