I've been considering the GX ASX upgrade kit, and I'm one of those people with boxes of old Shimano stuff that still works perfectly. My last XT 12 speed derailleur failed like this. Middle of a berm, not sure what happened but just snapped. There really isn't much material there, but I guess it's designed to fail at this point? More disappointing, the XTR shifter I have also failed recently, the upshift lever only engages occasionally, otherwise it just moves freely and does nothing. First time I've broken a Shimano shifter, I rarely buy XTR stuff because the price...

On the enduro side, Robin Wallner is stepping down from racing but will remain in charge of the Ibis enduro racing team: "Robin Wallner began his EWS career in Finale in 2014. Today, at the same venue, he is announcing his “retirement” at the end of the 2021 Enduro World Series. Robin was our Team Captain. The heart and soul of our race program. This is why we’re beyond stoked that while he is stepping back from racing, he is stepping into a new role as Ibis Enduro Team Manager."

Martin seems to ride really well at Finale too, so I would fully expect a good result this week. That is, provided all the numerous variables don't jump up and bite him (mechanicals, broken hands again etc).

I’ve got a GX derailleur, shifter, and crankset. I put a shimano SLX cassette and chain on and it’s incredible. Highly reccomend it in terms of cost and performance.

is Giant going to continue their DH program? the glory isn't sold in the US (hasn't been for a few years), and i seem to recall someone here saying it's no longer sold in Australia either.

That doesn't change the fact that in case of problems it's much easier, cheaper and faster to source standard bearings than it is to source a custom component.

A few trashed bearings are way cheaper to replace than a proprietary Kashima infinity link.

The technology is less important than the ability to market stuff... Fancy words sell things, not the capability of the product, at least all too often that's the case. What I'm wondering is how long it will take for all Yeti bikes to get 6-bar suspension instead of the slide link that they currently use.

I think the main differentiating factor is the parabolic anti-squat curves; at least from my theoretical standpoint they seem very well-designed and likely perform better than a Horst-link, but they're also basically identical to their Switch Infinity models. The anti-rise and leverage rate definitely don't offer anything new either, so it seems like it was just a way to replicate part of the Switch Infinity system on an ebike and make it look cool (and charge more money).

It's not just tiring it also slows me down when I have to make quick direction changes, float over bumps while turning & so on.

Do stop trying to come up with fancy ways of saying bike. Its bike and ebike. We don’t need anything more. Not “acoustic”. Not “analog” (or analogue). Not “pedal only”. Inventing new ways of saying bike just makes us all look like cretins. Surely you don’t think that anyone is that stupid that they don’t understand the difference.
