9/14/2021 11:39am Well if you're leaving out DH that's kind of cheating, since the new Session and the last few generations of the Supreme DH/prototype have all done really well across all sorts of races. Ignoring them, you only have a few examples of high-pivot designs trickling down to the enduro/trail level (Forbidden, Norco, Kavenz, Deviate, GT, Cannondale) and they're all relatively unproven. Now, you could say that manufacturers are starting to move away from a true "high" pivot and lowering it a little (see the GT, Cannondale, and the Supreme prototype) to make the handling closer to a 'regular' design while...

9/14/2021 11:38am The 'Ummm. What?!' is there for a reason. What in the name of all that is holy is a 'stand up shock'? And what the hell is 4 cogs and 5 cogs in the drivetrain?! If your intention is to confuse people, a) you're doing a good job, b) don't be surprised by the downvotes.

9/9/2021 12:48pm Apparently this is why the Cannondale DH team wrapped up rather suddenly, which left Matt Simmonds high and dry without a team. They could no longer continue using the bike at WC because they did not bring it to market after the 12 months. Seeing as this then went on to be the Jekyl enduro bike I wonder if they ever planned on releasing a DH bike.

9/9/2021 12:47pm your interpretation seems to be correct. there is a 12month duration that a bike can be raced, at that time the options are: -request an extension -release the bike for sale -discontinue racing the bike cannondale tested their new "DH" bike for i believe 2 seasons before abandoning that DH race program. however that bike did ultimately become the new jekyll.

9/9/2021 8:06am I may be misinterpreting the regulation, but I don't think it mandates that the bikes must be sold, just that they cannot be used after the one year mark unless they're sold. That way the brands have time to experiment, but are still required to release a production bike. I also understand that DH bikes are not particularly hot sellers...

9/9/2021 6:51am Ahh ok that makes sense, thanks for the explanation. Particularly in light of what @metadave mentioned about how long Intense has been running the M279.

9/9/2021 6:49am Yes, prototypes can only be used if they have been approved by UCI and for 12 months, until being offered for sale to the public. They can request an extension to the 12 months but it's all down to UCI. I'm not sure if it has to be able to be bought after 12 months or as long as they intend to sell it in the future I'm not sure

9/9/2021 6:46am Is there not a UCI regulation that limits the amount of time (1 year?) that a team is able to field a bike that is not yet in production? Or maybe the geometry and linkage tweaks they're doing allow them to skirt around that?

9/7/2021 1:40pm True enough, and those who really want to send it on an eMTB are buying the Ransom e-ride anyway, which has an X2 and no twinloc.

9/6/2021 2:26pm Let's be honest with ourselves here, 70 percent of these bikes will never see dirt, 29 percent will be ridden off road but not to the point where the heat in the shock will effect damping, and one percent will get ridden to that point and complained about. As for the twin lock, I agree, it's very odd especially on a 6" travel ebike, but the ebike crowd love gadgets and widgets. For the rest of us folk, at least it is somewhat removable if you wanna drop the cash and time to have it retrofitted to knobs.

8/27/2021 12:20pm Noticed the top tube mounted button, missed the display on the handlebars actually
In any case, damn regular riders, if it was a goofy rider on that bike, we'd see the linkage form the non-drive side

8/20/2021 9:52am Interesting. It looks to be fairly similar in terms of the lug shaping to the DH22, maybe a bit taller. Maybe something to slot in between the DH22 and the DH MUD? Sort of like what the Shorty is to the Wetscream in the Maxxis line.
