Today I shuttled all day with temperatures in the 8/15 degrees range, tires felt grippy as usual, although the dirt was ideal. Had a quite worn Wild Enduro in the front and a DH34 bike park in the back. The side lugs of the Wild enduro are starting to crack though, so maybe they're suffering the colder weather a little bit.

Run aluminium nipples, thinner spokes, a lighter rim, a lighter casing front tyre, a lightweight rotor adapter, aluminium carrier rotors, run a stealth axle instead of the toolless Maxle, etc. Or clean your bike if it's dirty. Any one of these points will about make up (or more than make up) for the weight of the buttercups. rampage is a Red Bull Signature Series event. it gets network TV broadcast, albeit it just the highlights of final runs i believe. in the US the only mtb event that might get more widespread network coverage is the Olympics.

I know it's derailing the topic, but the horst link 'high pivot-idler' bikes are in fact closer to a 'mid pivot' or much more similar to the suspension geometry of a 26" bike. But as the axle height rose (and the BBs stayed more or less at the same position), using the same suspension geometry would give too much pedal kickback. Therefore the idler. Lol last time I believe he added a backflip and maaaybe a 360, but you're probably right and I think the event organizers like it that way. I remember seeing an interview with them about why guys like Silva/Tom van Steenbergen weren't invited earlier, and they were like, we have to balance bringing crazy young talent out here with a level of maturity so that someone doesn't actually die.
