I think everyone can do what they want, but a battlefield like this, with 25% of participants physically disabled and therefore unable to earn a living, should not be called a sport. I have the utmost respect for the riding skills of these daredevils on two wheels. But the urge to mutilate oneself for fame and little money has nothing to do with sport anymore, but rather with some kind of pathology that needs to be treated. I think one thing to remember when comparing to other sports is that 20% of the participants of rampage have potentially life altering injuries FROM A ONE DAY EVENT with 18 people. All these other sports listed are having a couple people die at worst, and probably just as many life altering injuries with hundreds of participants over multiple events (10-100) for the entire year. Isle of Mann excluded. if 20% of football players were sidelined for the season every game, we would be concerned.

I disagree. I don't think after months and months of testing we would have uncovered more about the bikes that would offset the extra time/cost we'd have put in. To be clear, this was not a scientific test. Also, I'm not sure what kinda budget you think we got over here but it does not include months of testing in a bike park. The goal was to put down a timed run on a familiar track after we had each bike setup and feeling comfortable to see how times compared against how we felt on the bikes. And to help...

It always hurts my brain when groups discuss environmental conservation and limiting erosion etc at a SKI RESORT. They already allowed the bulldozing of the runs and there’s 6 months of noise and vibrations from the lifts turning and skier use. I get trying to minimize impact but to me the ski resort has already been significantly compromised in terms of environmental damage.

To be clear Whiteface and ORDA are not in any trouble, that is an article that was written from information that was given in an option piece by a local environmental advocacy group. So yes ORDA is not in compliance with possible required permits but it does not seem like the enforcement agency cares to be honest.
