9/11/2024 9:44am Sure. Those two things ARE different. But those sorts of official statements and the specific phrases used are often seen as possible leverage if one party is "misrepresenting" the other or their involvement. Brands don't tend to want to invite those sorts of points for scrutiny or potential legal "openings." In my experience on the marketing side of brands in...

9/11/2024 9:43am The specific wording both the statement from Atherton and the statement from Deuter uses makes me think they're going to be partnered in WC downhill for a bit. "...with Deuter’s support of the Continental Atherton race team." ..."partner with the Continental Atherton race team..." Knowing how picky and weird brands can be about contracts, names, public statements, etc. makes me...

9/9/2024 1:31pm A pdf!! A bloody pdf!! They think we are still in the dark ages of internet, or the intern doesn't know about Trailforks, Strava or Wikilocs or Komoots?! Also, my vote for MegEDRvalanch, its gonna be a snow fest

9/9/2024 8:22am Signing a multi year contract before the end of the season must mean they are staying put...so I'm assuming that its Vali or Bruni

9/8/2024 9:58pm Yep. That's 100% it. Good spot! From the camera angle that logo looks like it could be a Forbidden logo (nevermind that upside down thing...brains do weird stuff) but I had half a hunch I had seen that top tube display before. Turns out I had! Well, I'm leaving that post up because I want to go ride those trails...

9/8/2024 9:43pm I think they were "rained out" in one way or another. I'm not 100% certain what the official reason given was (limit laps on the track, rider safety, etc.) but they decided to take qualifying runs and have that populate the finals field.

9/8/2024 9:49pm I think Brian Cahal on YouTube is riding a Forbidden ebike. Just after https://youtu.be/i1Qln-KXKOc?si=j1u77CQDJy13Ophs&t=115 you see a display on the top tube and hear him being assisted while pedaling. What a weird way to have to form that sentence. HAHA! I'm dumb and wrong. @ewebster noticed it was his Giant Reign E+. False alarm. Go watch the video anyway because...

9/7/2024 7:56pm The other site has a bike check. Rallon. Size Medium when the chart would suggest a long for him. Mixed wheel size. 180mm brake rotor up front. 203mm in back.

9/6/2024 11:03pm In the UCI's unwavering commitments to growing Downhill and nurturing the spirit of Enduro...they've labeled the Downhill video with "Enduro World Cup." It's a dog-and-pony show over there.

9/6/2024 11:01pm I think he's on a Rallon and not their e-less-e-bike for Enduro. At least that's what it looked like (and what he was racing in Enduro earlier this year). He was definitely on the motor-removed tweaked ebike for Downhill, though! It definitely sounds like he's moving on from this team. I wonder if he's going somewhere specific - I'm sure...

9/6/2024 9:22pm When the mass slides one direction, the spring backing it in the direction it slides sees increase in force while the spring on the other side sees a decrease. If the spring rates are the same, the one spring force increases the same amount that the other spring force decreases. As a result, the net force is double what it would be with that displacement and a single spring. A numeric example with easy numbers would be two springs with a 50 lb/in rate preloaded to 100 lbs each. When the mass is translated 1” to one side, one spring...

9/6/2024 9:22pm Yeah I think you are right - I realised I hadn't thought that through enough and once I sat down to work through the numbers that seems to check out. I'll try work out some more precise numbers and repeat the test, hopefully find a TMD arrangement where the frequency is too high to work properly as well as too low. Maybe some potentiometers on the tyre & mass to see how much displacement each is going through as well....

9/6/2024 9:11pm Huh? He had a bad preseason injury a few years back I witnessed that was gnarly that cost home most of the 2022 season. Vital has the video. Last 2 years 13 World Cups Made every semi & final 2 Podiums 8 Top 10 Finishes Finished outside top 20 twice (Loudenvielle & Les Gets cluster Fokk this year) Hasn’t been outside Top 30 a single time. And that’s with switching from every single component of Santa Cruz/Shimano/Fox to Canyon/Sram/RockShox.

9/6/2024 8:48am OK, we're fully derailing this, but let's conclude the discussion anyway 😀 The pivot is NEVER going to be above the line between the CoG and the rear axle. Imagine what that bike would like like. Here are some crude drawings I made to illustrate how anti-squat works. First, we have to understand what causes the bike the squat. The force introduced by pedaling makes the rear wheel turn, pushing backwards against the ground (blue arrow below). This causes the bike to accelerate (red arrow at the wheel). Because this force is applied way below the center of mass (the...

9/5/2024 11:18pm This video is awesome and you did it so quick in response to this thread! I’ve been using the CounterShox that was designed for moto (about 2 lb) and I’ve found that I can use it in a way to dampen small chatter like washboard bumps and sharp square braking bumps/rocks. Say something that is less than 6inches in height.. With the countershox removing the feel of those bumps from my hands, I’m able to run my LSC slightly stiffer and my HSC much stiffer than normal. This is giving me a more chassis stability and less pitching on and...
