If you want fast rolling with a good sidewall you could try a Schwalbe Wicked Will SuperTrail. The SuperTrail casing is more supportive than EXO+. It only comes in their SpeedGrip compound, which is firm and long lasting. Fun tire for all-day missions in the dry. I do wish they had it in Soft (aka not that soft).

I admit I have (had) a lot of tarmac approaches and transfers to get to the trails, but even on limestone a 3C gets torn up in the rear way too quickly to make sense to run it in the back...

Colorado front range. Dry, rocky, coarse soil. It eats tires, but typically maxxis dual compound lasts fine. This wore like 3x faster it seems.

Only issue is the dual compound isn’t available in EXO+ casing right? I have a freebie specialized butcher T7 grid trail up next. Might trim all the knobs to make it roll faster as a rear tire.

Funny enough, mine also lasted the exact same number of rides. I now use the dual compound version which has slightly less grip in the corners but lasts significantly longer.

Recon maxxterra EXO + This thing melted, flatted twice. Got 10-12 rides out of it- at $95 not a great value. Good traction and rolling speed though. Forekaster on the front is very good- fast rolling mini Assegai, minimal wear so far.

Dual crown + water bottle. Sounds trivial but a huge feature for us who just ride park and don't race.

It’s hard to keep the independent air chambers from leaking one way or another. Ie neg leaking into positive. Dimple resets any leak every stroke. It’s huge for durability.

I mean for certain purposes rubber is a pretty amazing tool. Has a ton of properties that make it fairly incredible when used correctly. Especially when it comes to mass producing a product you know more than half of users aren’t going to follow service intervals.

Yeah dude if you don’t have a couple e-fats hanging off the back of the RV don’t even bother showing up to the 50s diner sports bar in this town. Names like PEDALOOG and VICTROX in big silver letters on the big square downtube beam member are a bonus.

See, that's the beauty: it can be all of those things. And the case is closed for me, I'd rather do long pedal rides on a too-heavy bike than ride a bike park or shuttle DH laps on a too-light bike.

The 20k bike is brilliant- if they sell at full pop you make a huge margin. If they don’t sell and you mark them 50% off you still make decent margins. Also- we’re all talking about it.

Couldn’t you say the same about an EXO+? Ie just up the pressure because the casing is more pliable? I guess I’m just curious- the main selling feature of the radials is a more compliant casing- which is already available via lighter versions of casings. Also I’m too cheap to buy a $115 tire for testing

Welp looks like my SH51 cleats are getting the CL-MT001 pedicure tonight courtesy of a angle grinder.

I’m also curious about how the radials protect the rim… I’ve run a DH casing maxxgrip Assegai vs an EXO+ maxxgrip Assegai and it seemed like the EXO+ had better grip and absorbed more trail chatter. But I know I’d kill the lighter casing at a bike park.

Finally! A proper electronic DH rear derailleur. I've been wondering when we'd be able to pay $1500 to ruin three derailleurs on the same rock in one race weekend. Can't come fast enough.
