9/5/2024 9:45am Yeah right! That said Hope actually did this. They calculated an amortized cost for the carbon bike including development time etc but then after a while they realized they had learnt so much from the project that could be applied to other carbon products and help to spread the sunk costs. So they dropped the price by £1000 (iirc) and gave a rebate to all the original customers! This is very Hope-like. In the Uk there was/is a salary sacrifice scheme you can use for buying a bike and save 25-30%. Hope signed up but it was a lot of...

9/3/2024 2:25am Funnily enough, I think you should have stopped way back there somewhere too! But here we are... Anyhoo, snark aside and back to jsray's post. I can easily see a solar trickle feed being enough to run things like flight attendant or a wireless dropper. Maybe not the derailleur.... I mean the whole point of AXS was to stop having...

9/3/2024 1:59am high efficiency ambient light photovoltaics are being developed with some level of reasonable promise. I suspect SRAM is jumping on the patent train nice and early on this one so once the solar tech is public they'll be set.

9/3/2024 1:57am I don’t know much about solar. But pretty sure it needs a lot of surface area and a lot of sunlight.

8/30/2024 1:47pm As a Milwaukeean I can tell you Mequon isn't as rural as you think. Hayes was maybe a 20+min drive from downtown Milwaukee. From what I've heard, a bulk of the cuts were made on the power side of the business. That said, I do wonder about their future. Brakes have been doing well-ish, but Reynolds/Sun/and Manitou goods have been on sale for a long, long time on their site and none of those wares really show up as OE spec aside from the Junit line. Aftermarket has better margins, but OE spec is what really keeps the lights on.

8/30/2024 12:37am In theory the tyres bounce at their own natural frequency so on small, fast chattery bumps they can start to hop and lose traction. These inputs are usually too short for the suspension to respond in time so a mass damper could cancel out the vibration which keeps a more consistent force on the tyre.

8/30/2024 12:32am Traveling is one of the biggest perks for me. I personally love being in Taiwan and it’s a good jumping off point for exploring more of that side of the world. The actual flying part sucks but being there is awesome.

8/29/2024 2:16pm Erice would have qualied 1st in womans. Holy shit. Finn was the first generation to grow up with bikeparks. 7 years later we have several jr's every race that could land in a top ten in elite. Now think about about how good kids bikes are today. Hell my 5 year old has had front and rear disc brakes on his last two bikes. The future is bright!

8/26/2024 12:45pm No concrete information but I spoke with a person who works at specialized and his comments aligned with the same rumors some folks have echoed already. Enduro will get updated with UDH next year and nothing else.

8/26/2024 12:42pm I think mechanical t-type is inevitable. There is a schematic for frames on the UDH website that includes a cable stop. Posted a pic of it months ago. I can try to find it again when I get back to my computer.
