sickshredsled Added a reply to e*thirteen's Sidekick Hub: Impressions & Discussion
6/8/2026 3:24pm I was about to take my cassette off to send photos to support and realized my Shimano cassette lock ring had come loose. I normally torque them down pretty hard so was surprised. I torqued it back on and issue solved! I'm wondering if the mechanism could somehow cause the cassette to loosen?

5/29/2026 7:13pm I'm pretty sure I'm having the same issue or similar. I'm not sure mine is the derailleur though.

5/25/2026 6:01pm Pretty common on TTX22m shock and can be worse on some bikes than others but in most cases they can have a very light top out knock. The upgraded Factory M2 Damper Shaft fixed this - https://suspensionwerx.com/products/ohlins-ttx22-m2-factory-racing-upgr… They are pressurized with a nitrogen needle and can only be done that way as there is a rubber puck that the needle needs to go through. Unsure if there are aftermarket mays around this. TTX22 is bombproof and can likely well outlive most other offerings in terms of servicing, the steel shaft and robust seal layout means they go for years without...

5/25/2026 2:12pm Realizing it might be that I'm not using enough preload or setting it before putting the shock on the bike.

5/24/2026 6:36am I may have described it incorrectly. It's not exactly top-out and I'm not using much preload but basically if you pick the bike up, it feels like there's a dead band in travel the shock almost feels loose.

5/23/2026 8:52pm So I'm a cheap bastard and have bought a used ohlins coil shock for the 2nd time. Each time I've bought one used, I'm pretty sure the piggyback has had low pressure. Why do I think this? I can feel a dead band in the shock, almost like a top out when I pick up the bike. It feels almost...

4/20/2026 5:48pm I was just thinking the same thing. Idk if it's just the corner knobs or casing but the 2.5 mm radial trail feels pretty squirmy. I can hear the knobs snap. For fast aggressive riding I think I prefer a heavier non radial casing.

4/20/2026 11:34am Any other people have feedback on hardheaded ram metallic brake pads? I ran them on hayes Dominion and they seemed great! Considering getting them for mavens. If anyone has other good metallic brake suggestions for maven let me know.

3/18/2026 4:25pm I figured you were on the tall side! I think the dropper insertion makes the biggest difference for shorter folks! With many bikes with taller seat tubes or not much insertion length because of shock tunnel/seat tube kink (spec Enduro), the height and position of the seat can really impede mobility on the bike: leaning it over, getting low, jumping...

3/10/2026 2:38pm Can anyone share which FF helmets work with the Smith Squad XL goggles? Looking to replace my 100% Trajecta. I've been eyeing the IXS Xult on sale for $90 if anyone has any experience.

3/7/2026 6:37pm I finally got the mavens mounted and went for a ride today. Figured I'd share my experience as everyone here's been pretty helpful. I got a pair of the older Maven Silver on Pinkbike Holy shit these things are amazing! I've been a bit on the fence but finally decided to pull the. Been using Hayes dominions for the last...

3/5/2026 2:39pm Finally got some mavens! They came with resin pads. How much truth is there to the "don't mix pad compounds on the same rotor" theory. I know Sram even posts that on their site regarding Mavens. I'd like to try these bad boys as is but will likely switch to metallic when I can get a pair of pads.

2/20/2026 12:28pm The Base is ace, but as someone else said, SRAM is rumored to be updating the entire Maven lineup to mimic the lever feel of the Base brake, and allegedly the new lineup is going to drop soon.

2/18/2026 6:57pm About to pull the trigger on some mavens. Anyone have strong thoughts on the various models including the base? Leaning towards the Bronze for simplicity but open to hear people's thoughts.

1/5/2026 8:14pm Maxxis Shorty will have less braking power than the High Roller 3 in almost all conditions. High Roller 3 can be used for everything, especially soft soils. Shorty is a bit better at clearing mud, but otherwise not as good of a tire.

1/4/2026 7:56pm I've been running the Schwalbe Shredda rear up front. That tire is absolutely amazing. Kind of like a cheat code! It has very high rolling resistance and is a bitch to pedal. When I'm coasting downhill I can see how much faster the people i'm riding with can coast purely due to rolling resistance. One big thing I've noticed is...

12/10/2025 5:15pm Well, I installed the coil spring kit. When I was putting the lowers back on I was having trouble tightening the damper side bolt. I think at I was tightening the damper was spinning also? Long story short when I tried to install the rebound knob It was kinda stiff/not moving. The next logical thing was to tighten it down...
