I've been running the Schwalbe Shredda rear up front. That tire is absolutely amazing. Kind of like a cheat code! It has very high rolling resistance and is a bitch to pedal. When I'm coasting downhill I can see how much faster the people i'm riding with can coast purely due to rolling resistance. One big thing I've noticed is...
Well, I installed the coil spring kit. When I was putting the lowers back on I was having trouble tightening the damper side bolt. I think at I was tightening the damper was spinning also? Long story short when I tried to install the rebound knob It was kinda stiff/not moving. The next logical thing was to tighten it down...

I'm currently doing a long term test of the Maven Base for Vital, after running the Maven Ultimate for a long time. I'm super impressed with the lever feel on the Maven Base. There's way more modulation and control compared to the Ultimate, which felt much more like an on/off switch and took a long time for me to get used to. I prefer the feel of the Base brake more, although it has less total stopping power. Could be just what you're looking for you want more power but don't want the on/off feel of the Ultimate. The Base...

With mavens in my opinion is either SLV/ULT or nothing I like having the bite point adjuster to tune them, they can be too aggressive otherwise I did not like the bronze but I do like the silvers

Hi DServy, Yes that is a very good observation. High Pivots bikes do tend to have lower vertical velocities as a result of the rearward axle path. That can be quite significant with very rearward axle paths such on the Commencal Supreme V4. The Jekyll is more of what could be called a "High Mid Pivot" design. it does have a lot of benefits of the HP while minimizing some of its drawbacks. As a rule of thumb, with this type of design I do tend to run a lot more Low Speed Compression with minimal High Speed Compression damping.

Hi, Luis! Super interesting case study! Most of this stuff is way over my head. I've been setting up a Jekyll myself and tinkering a bit. I have a medium frame. I believe the frame sizes have different leverage rates. I'm curious I'd you would recommend air or coil for this bike? -Gary

Bikes with high AS do not provide good traction on techy climbs ... The best you can do is a position-sensitive damping + lockout and no one currently does that, but it's theoretically possible. But good sensitivity will mean some loss of efficiency anyway, just the bike will not bob like hell. The problem is that AS means you provide a force to keep the bike high in travel vs damping can only slow down the bobbing, so to be effective you need very high damping coefficient which needs to play nicely with bobbing/pedaling frequency, which is very low for...

In college I rode hammered grips and poort bled brakes because I was poor and felt it was cool to "suffer" and just lazy. After growing up, I've come to realize that details matter. Lots of small things add up. Minor adjustments to lever position, grips, bar backsweep & roll, well bled brakes, a fork that has at some point in its life actually been serviced, proper tire pressure, etc all add up to a huge difference. As much as I love my Oneup bars and revgrips, there is no magic bullet or single solution to most things in life...

Just to try and make sure this little bit makes sense, a yoke is essentially a method to increase the eye-to-eye length of a shock. It is rigidly connected to the shock so increasing the length of the yoke can be viewed as increasing the eye-to-eye. This is also what Specialized flip chips do. The Enduro is an interesting one because there are a few things going on that can do this. To correct geo for the smaller rear wheel you need to make the shock yoke about 6mm longer. There is not enough clearance to go this far. The...

Could you talk more about how the high vs low affects the leverage curve and travel? I went from a ful 29 enduro in high to a mullet with mullet link (which is supposed to be closer to low setting) Bike feels less poppy and I think the spring feels a bit soft.

Hayes has Manitou Mezzer forks at 40% off on their website, and low stock/unavailable options. New/updated enduro fork coming from Manitou soon?

I thought so but the color and writing on the downtime aren't the same, right? I also was co.paring the suspension link to the cascade and it looked a bit different. I could be wrong. On the custom bike co Facebook page.
