At this weight point, if you want a linear spring, just buy older fork and add smashpot... The funniest thing is that they put all those buttercups and now an ABO which takes lots of space in the lovers and added a small bulge to increase the leg volume, in my books they added just enough volume they lost with...

@sprungmass pretty much nailed it. I have 2 bikes in my rotation that have ochains and just recently tried a deg-df kit in the only deg dt350 hub I have in my families fleet of bikes. The degdf kit is 90% as good imo. I prefer the ochain over the degdf, but the ochain is a pain, maintenance heavy, physically heavy, has chainring limitations etc etc. As is noted, the deg-df will bottom out with a hard clank in certain situations. In practice, this only happens rarely and 9/10, it happens because the user is pedaling squares like a muppet...

Been really happy with vivid air and coil on a few bikes now. Great for the price but only minor complaint is that the hsc can feel a bit harsh at times compared to an ohlins. Just sent the vivid air in for service and got the WPS podium kit installed - excited to try it out when I have the chance. I think rockshox hit the sweet spot with the adjusters on the vivid, each click is meaningful for me and I find I can dial it in on a variety of terrain relatively easily. Anecdote for sure, but...

Trying to keep it under $700 if possible. Vorsprung makes cool stuff but I'm not sure I could feel comfortable spending that much on a shock haha.

Just a heads up, 2026 X2/DHX2 has a small adjustment window. It’s a design compromise of the monotube design with a shimmed base valve. The aftermarket CL70 tune might work well on the Regulator, depending on your weight and compression preference. I would suggest you try a coil, since your bike has the progression for it, hard to match that small bump, especially with “normal” axle path. Another vote for Push SV8, good adjustment range . Telum at the high end is amazing.

First, I would recommend finding someone with telemetry and figuring out your dynamic sag and suspension balance. I was setting my sus wrong for many years untill I bought ByB. Not very wrong, it was good but it was a local minimum, going much less sag on the rear suddenly made the bike work so kind of opposite what you...

"No risk of cavitation: high turbulent flow valves keep damping forces independent from viscosity and temperature changes to perfect pressure balance, eliminate aeration and cavitation, all with very low hysteresis to improve dynamic response" Damping forces are never independent from viscosity changes! Also I don't understand how you can call a 750€ shock affordable, that's expensive! Not being able to service it at home makes it even more expensive in the long run compared to RockShox and co

My experience with the ext ARMA mirrors this article. It’s been absolutely excellent, head and shoulders above the dhx2 it replaced. Great to hear the Vecta performs at a similar level but a couple hundred cheaper.

We have mostly clay here. In the summer the ground is concrete like, so I run Kryptotal FRs or Vee Attack HPL at the front. More open tires don't really help and fold over too easily. In the winter it's the opposite. The dirt offen feels like peanut butter and clogs any tread that isn't a mud spike. Many run a Dirty Dan or alike in these conditions, they are the best. A Mary works ok enough in both conditions and is the choice for people who don't want to swap tires

I ride shredda front on a normal bike, so ... Put it for winter since we have snowy periods, but there was litte snow till now. It works suprisingly good on mixed terrain, just slides on roots which is quite obvious. Definitely the rolling resistance is bearable in the cold. Much much better than previously used dirty dan (and it has taller knobs too ...)

My local trails are fairly steep, often wet or at least damp made of sandy loose loam, with lots of evil root nests. I find Assegai doesn't cut into soft surfaces enough to brake hard and I personally feel the compound, while it's really soft feels like silicone bath sealant and doesn't key into wet roots. The Argotal is a total cheater tyre on loose surfaces. However the tall knobs and less grippy compound just feel sketchy on cold wet roots - I could believe it'll be great in dry and loose. Which just means I run an US Mary...

Cool to see that I am not so stupid in the end. I ride Argotal year round (well, almost, I put Dirty Dan or Shredda Front for deeper snow) and recently someone was laughing at me on a messenger group. Trails where I ride could not be more mixed: roots, small stones, big stones, clay, loam occasional mud pots and greasy steeps. Compared to something like Assegai there is less grips on hard things and quite poor grip on wet roots but those are things you can spot and prepare. What you cannot see is some slimy or loose bits...

Shredda front has spoiled me with it's absurd grip on loose steeps, but argotal looks like it would come closer than most other "normal" tires. I'm also hoping Schwalbe releases their "high roller" soon: Spotted: New Schwalbe Gravity Tire

I bought some TLD Oversenders for the laugh, and so many of the design choices make no sense like the front pockets that are on top of the hip bend and so need to be kept empty, the nice big rear pockets that have no zipper or velcro... They need to get riders involved in the testing before release...

I tried those pants and the inseam on them is definitely too short. I think TLD pants fit in general is for rather bulky short-legged dudes. For reference I also need a 32 waist pants but my inseam is 34. From those pictures I can see that even on a shorter-legged dude those are on the edge. Dear designers/manufacturers, winter pants should generally be a little longer, nothing worse than a splash of water directly on your ankles when it's freezing, not to mention snow entering your boots.

It depends on the system you’re riding. Some range extenders only trickle-charge the main battery, but others can run the bike by themselves. On our setup, the range extender can act as a standalone power source, so riding with just the extender is no problem. It’s a nice option if you want a lighter bike for a quick lunch ride.

Glad to see FAZUA sent a reply, considering forum members here seem to be forecasting their imminent demise. I (reluctantly) picked up a steeply discounted FAZUA Ride 60 powered gravel bike for commuting and have found it to have more than adequate power for that application (can comfortably sit at 28mph when in the drops). For my mountain bikes, it’s full power all the way.
