How else will they show full runs, if the gaps between riders are not 4-5 minutes. Most tracks are 3:30 or longer for elite men. In poland, the gaps for last eight men were 4:30, 3:30 for others and 2 mins for the first starters in finals. There were no five minute gaps, certainly not for every rider. I think the issue is with lack of feeder series, which at least in the US seems to be growing. I just dont think the best way to get to the top of the sport is to try to qualify for the premier elite class for 5 years until you are good enough to qualify. You could have qualifiers. For example: Top 10 amateur's at the windrock national in their respective class earn the opportunity to qualify at a world cup or something to that effect basically. Kinda shocked at the number of comments on PB blaming the UCI. If a pro athlete can't stay on top of their wearabouts filing for drug testing they must be hiding something. Like okay they fail twice in a year and then get their crap together, but to fail three times knowing the consequences is crazy.

Regarding tight liaison times: I think people are lacking context following other racing disciplines, especially road racing. In road racing, what determines the cream of the crop who race the Tour de France (World Tour) vs others (Pro Tour) is endurance and durability. The World Tour racers can hold 85-90% of their FTP for 6+ hours and end a race sprinting near their max, whereas Pro Tour racers see a much higher rate of degradation in power output over the same length of time. Similarly, the EDR racers who had issues making the Finale times are simply not as fit...

Friendly reminder that everytime we go to a new track or a track gets rebuilt peopl complain that it will be too easy, then the track gets rutted up like crazy after 1 day of practice and then the race is great.

For context, Bex finished in 21st place 6:38 minutes back. Imagine being Hattie Harden who trained her ass off all year, competed in multiple XC and DH races and smoked the competition to hear 21st place say the pace “violated human rights” lol, gtfo
