What all of those solutions miss out on is that a gearbox has consistent chain-line across all the gears. That allows you to rip technical decent with heavy braking while in 1st gear without having to deal with heinous chaingrowth/pedal kick. Assuming the pit-scavenged test pilot tires a couple of local bros have brought by the shop are at least very similar to the final “New DH” casing, that new high-hardness butyl insert is insanely stiff. It seems borderline impossible to puncture that sidewall, and the support must be significant. The rest of the tire didn’t feel too different from DH casings of the past. Interesting that Maxxis is pushing a new casing with which they encourage riders to drop pressure when other brands are pushing a more pliable radial casing and more psi.

I'll emphasize this question. I've never understood what's so special about the DJI motor other than ridiculous levels of power and assist, especially compared to a TQ motor. The DJI motor doesn't seem to have some magical battery. The efficiency doesn't seem to be that much, if any, better. It's always seemed to me that a lot of the form factor praise is just a smokescreen for people who want their crank to primarily function as a throttle.
