Curious, I thought they look like a good iteration on the previous model Carbon and alu alu has external cables, carbon id fully guided, no headset cable routing geo looks good, shortish CS and WB, should be a nimble bike full water bottle, accessory mount, frame protection looks good good colours, aesthetically they look quite good, Konas simple faux bar. Personally, the brake choices seem underwhelming, but that has been Konas MO for a while now. Other than frame storage, what more would you like from a couple trail bikes?

Spoke to some of the Kona UK team that were at the UK bike show a few weeks ago - they were showing one of the 153s and some other new models (these to be announced hopefully August/September). These were all ready to be shipped from Taiwan months ago, but Kent had held them up (guess not paying up) - UK distributor was in talks to get some of these but then sale back to original owners have unlocked the shipments.

I assume these new Kona's were in the pipeline before the original owners re acquired it. It's only been a few months so I would give them some time to work on new things. I think they should relaunch the Sticky name with a fun and playful gravity focused bike a la the Specialized Status.

Has anyone heard anything about Chromag coming out with an aluminum dj? Allegedly one of our local slope guys has been on one, but it feels like a pretty big departure for Chromag to go that way. That said, maybe their riders have been asking for something more slope oriented than the Monk?

Well...they keep telling me they're gonna send some, but they have yet to show up... (but yeah, I've actually ridden the SuperSoft enduro tire now, and I really liked it...still hope to get some in for a long term review...)

The last thing they told me was SuperSoft on enduro casing (which I've now ridden, at the YT Decoy SN launch), and Soft for the trail casing (which I published a picture of in our Sea Otter coverage, so at least one such tire exists). Sounded like no plans for a SuperSoft with trail casing though, correct.

that’s because enduro mtb are some of the least critical reviews out there and industry bootlickers. „It looks so clean, sick!“ way too much focused on being hip and bros and pushing the newest shit on people compared to other media outlets.

Not a rumor but confirmed by the man himself, Troy Lee mentioned he's working on the D5 on his appearance for the Gypsy Tales podcast. In other helmet rumors, did anyone hear why everyone affiliated with Alpinestars is on the SM10? Need a helmet after my brand new Dissident II carbon shell was cracked from a less than hip height fall from my bar, I'd hoped it was one of the safer offerings out there but no longer convinced.

Seeing the new Gambler out in the open made me contemplate company strategies; Curious that they don’t put it to the test at the World Cup first. It’s definitely been a trend lately to have your prototyping done at the highest level. Norco/Specialized/Intense for example. Other companies do their prototyping and testing in the off-season. I don’t get pumped on spy photos like I used to (building hype) but I wonder what strategy is better for their bottom line/sales?

They're practically begging for photos riding that thing in custom paint with sponsors on, and in those pants. I'm surprised they don't have a new bike flag attached somewhere
