Loooool! Dario DiGiulio just mentioned bike brands converging on crab in the latest PB podcast (17:50 if you want to hear it). 🤣🦀

Matt also said his goal was to beat his time from last year, and he did it. In 2024 he got 3:54.107, and in 2025 he got 3:52.636. He cut 1.471 seconds off his time, and rode 300m further in that time. Serious progression over the past couple weeks in Queenstown.

I didn't have a lot of time for Matt Jones before he started pumping out pre-hardline vids. Not that I had anything against him, he was just another in a sea of YouTube riders and I started to burn out from them a few years ago. But this event he really separated himself from the pack and it seemed like he massively improved the last month riding with everyone. Big fan of the vibe. Erice... Damn. Glad she's relatively ok but that's some scary shit. I hope she heals up well.

He over cooked the top of the track, too. I have to imagine he could have won without that inside had he had a clean top section. I’m excited for the magic those two are going to display for years to come. Gracey is just shockingly cool as a cucumber on the most insane stuff. I think she’s in that same boat of providing magical riding for years to come.

The part of me that rode nothing but single speed for a decade laughs internally.

That was incredible racing! Great way to start the '25 season. Was up past 10pm watching with my 11yo daughter, glued to the a screen, whooping it up. Coverage was awesome. Commentary, well, as good as it gets! Unreal riding by everyone. That course was really cool.

Bike tech is a circular cycle. You know what else is a circular cycle? Crab.

That was great. 10/10 It sounds like no one's seriously hurt. Jackson and Asa are next level. Connor is still on it. When Gracy starts to put it together regularly, the women's racers better watch out. 🤟🤟 I think Wales is a bit wild, but the Tasmania course feels like a world Cup course turned up a notch or two and it seems like it's do-able to make more courses like this one pretty much anywhere.

Thought this might be a fun fact, "We have found that top qualifier Asa Vermette set an average speed of 52.46km/h (32.6mph), an increase of 8.42km/h over last year." If the increase of 8.42 km/h becomes a norm, then the Hardline track would become an illegal motocross/arenacross/supercross/supermoto track in two years. It's mental to think about the pace these guys are pushing on downhill bikes. Sidenote, does anyone know if the UCI has any similar rule related to maximum average speeds?

If you read my post, appearances have nothing to do with what I am saying. It's about safety. A ponytail is open ended, nothing will get caught in it. A braid is 20 loops of strong hair waiting for something to catch and twist your neck. I don't appreciate you trying to rewrite my words to act as a defender of women. I never attacked anyone, so don't attack me.

why would they put anything out if the athletes are doing it for them?

That's where they need to go for wide spread acceptance. If they can reduce the largest cog and go with a short derailleur cage, all the better.

Jackson, Ronan and Bernard. Feels like the rest of the top 10 could be a interesting fight, assuming the wind is consistent. Really hoping Matt does the backflip in his race run! I’m more interested in Gee, Sam and Ratboy. Would be sick if one of them got in the top 5!!!
