To add to this, there is a reason that MTB tires (other than XC) rarely make a appearance on 3rd party rolling test sites. Practically all utilize a rolling drum test, and unless we only care about rolling performance on the tarmac, the comparison of such results don't mean much. Quantifying rolling performance on varying levels of aggregate or soil composition is a multi variable problem that is likely more costly than it is beneficial. I'd be interested to see such numbers, but I'd be even more interested to know how a tester came to such results. As for the...

I just read the other site's review of the new Rock Mountain, and the reviewer thought the compression tune was too light and had both high & low fully closed. He moved up a compression tune and got along with the bike better (Fox X2). Rocky suggested that hard chargers could contact their local Fox dealer and get their rear shock retuned. Wasn't this the whole point of moving to the twin tube design? Other twin tubers like CC don't have frame specific tunes as far as I'm aware since there is a massive range for those damp(en)ers. If shocks...

It'd be nice to keep this thread on topic "tech rumors and innovation". This thread has been so off topic the last few weeks / months even. Ask yourself "does my comment have to do with tech rumors and or innovation"? If no, stop. Heres a quick guide to others places to chat about various other hot topics. You sound as if Maxxis tires are all the sudden unrideable. I'm glad Maxxis has competition now but calling them "the dogs breakfast" is fried. You don't ride like Moimoi - you'll be fine on exo+... (or if you actually know how to ride, doubledown).

Hot take: MTB tires are a luxury item and priced accordingly. Edit: @saskskier beat me to it.

I hate how much tires cost and will complain every time I have to buy new ones, BUT, the reality is, when we're paying $130-150(cad) per tire, it would be like buying Michelin Cup 2 R's or or BFG Baja T/A KR3. Those are super high performance tires that are $1000+ each and made for Porsche's, Ferrari's and trophy trucks. And let's be honest, in the world of bikes, most of us are riding Porsche's, Ferrari's and trophy trucks. I still hate that we have to spend $130+ on tires.

I heard some positive feedback on them from folks I trust. Have not ridden them myself yet though. We tried this on the road side 10+ years ago, they never caught on in a big way, but the people who rode them LOVED them. https://www.maxxis.com/us/tire/radiale/

I think this is a significant underestimate of Trek's market share and a significant overestimate of the average buyer's wherewithal when it comes to making informed purchases, even at the high end.

Having run plenty of demo days I'd say it's about 30% just having a go on an expensive bike for free, 20% just telling you what is wrong with the bike, 20% "just confirming that my bike IS better", 20% "I'm thinking of replacing my 2011 bike in the next 3-5 years" , 9% having one of the bikes on a shortlist but "I'm going to buy whatever I get the best deal on" and 1% actually going on to buy something from the demo. A couple a year was more than enough to never want to do it again.

Marketing (the department where demo programs live) is typically the first place to get their budget cut when sales slump. A friendly reminder that not all marketing is evil. Free demo programs are pretty great for customers.

Wow, that's crazy. I thought the U.S. has been off the gold standard since Nixon in '71. Oh wait, I don't think we're supposed to get into politics here.

There is nothing wrong with Specialized selling direct online. It's pretty crummy to delay dealer orders when the same bike is available online. Thats just crapping on the dealer network.

Showed up today. Will likely head to a bike park on 8/30 so that's probably when I'll try it out and will post a review in a separate thread when I do (sorry not a rumor but relevant to what we had discussed). Feels very solidly built and installation looks extremely straightforward.

This x100. Multiple month lead times for shops ordering. 3 day delivery if you order directly off the website.......and you collect from the store who can't get you one for 4 months. And people ask 'why are specialized hated so much'.

More likely it’s not a big enough change from the Evo and people don’t see the value in selling their current bike for an abysmal sum and then paying Spesh rrp prices.
