Advent MX is so good. I'm running it on the ebike but would happily run it on my park or trail bike too. MicroShift derailleurs are much more impact resistant than Shimano in my experience. All I want from a derailleur is for it to be cheap, overbuilt, and never in my spokes. Their customer service is great too. I broke a tooth on the cassette early on and they shipped out a new one no questions asked. Imagine going through that with Shimano.

The only guy in my area that I know riding the new Di2 has it because it came spec'd on his bike, and had to put on STFU hoops because the chainslap was so bad. I have the exact same bike with Transmission and get no chainslap. Deleting the clutch is such a headscratcher considering how quiet bikes have gotten these days, and how much we care about bikes that don't sound like a shopping cart going down the hill.

Trust me, I get it. I feel exactly the same. I'm honestly getting a bit fatigued by all this pseudo-innovation lately: 32" wheels, competing derailleur hanger standards, electronic 13 speed group sets, 1700w ebike motors, new hub standards - I neither want nor need any of it. Because at the end of the day, all of this is just going to make everything more expensive but won't make a difference to my actual day-to-day enjoyment of cycling.

It has little to do with engine braking. Everything to do with grip. Tldr: Front slows you down with large bursts of power, rear keeps your speed in check with longer duration braking events. Don't need data acquisition to try going 20km/h on just about any surface,then using each brake individually and see how fast can you stop. Or ride down in'n'out burger with front only vs rear only. So theres a few things - Most riders, even the best ones spend for more time on the rear brake so it will get hotter faster, and this only gets more pronounced on steeper/faster tracks. The terrain is a lot more uneven and loose which makes it tricky to apply maximum front brake for every corner, plus a rider can shift their weight backwards much more than a car or motorcycle can. What do you mean amplify. Weight transfer gives you more grip. It only makes sense to have more braking power (i.e. bigger rotor) in the front. QED: literally every car on the road. If it has a rear weight bias (Porsche for example) or a near 50 50 split, the difference front to rear is smaller, but still present.

Definitely when viewing a POV video the course tape makes the course a bit less confusing. I don't know if I've ever heard whether the racers prefer the tape. It seems it might make it easier for riders who go out of bounds to figure out where they need to re-enter the track. And it also could make it clear whether those Whoop(ie) cushion things are in-bounds or out-of-bounds. I wonder if Asa would have been DSQ'd earlier this year if the course had been taped.
