Pay top dollar for a shock and it sounds like a busted pedal bearing. Annoyingly the shock has been service 3 times and it only started making the noise after the 2nd service. EXT’s response to that was “the noise is normal” and “I don’t know what was done during service”. Who the hell wants to ride equipment that sounds like that? Surely during product testing any rider would call that noise out as a no go before going to market.

Looking at the thumbnail of wyn wheelie-ing on the new bike, it looks like it might have adjustable chainstay length. It'd be sweet if they make the bike 29 and mullet compatible like the fury.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CNnvrczB0NW/ Same colour, same link, etc., and you can see here that the idler height is not that extreme compared to the top of the chainring, while you can see in the wheelie video that the chain is relatively far up from the chainstay, which isn't that usual on modern bikes - chains are usually much closer on idlerless bikes. The same could be true on an idler equipped bike, but the GT has a relatively low chainstay position compared to the idler.

To me, chain is the one wear item that is getting scarce. Search "12spd chain" and it's slim but you are correct not impossible to find (yet).

It makes me slightly more concerned when I'm sitting in bed thinking about life, but on the trails I don't think i've pulled back or been more cautious. What it has done is made me hold onto parts that I would prob have otherwise tried to unload for cash.

I always ride with a protractor, a level and a folding meter-stick so when I see proto bikes on the trail i can run up and measure the seat angle. Makes it easier to go complain in the pinkbike comments before everyone else does.

But you use larger rotors to gain power, not to move from wheel size to wheel size. I stayed at 200 mm in the front moving to a 29er. Plus the small percentage difference is not even close enough to a worthy gain compared to standardised mounts if you ask me. As for the shock and bottle of the unknown bike, mounting to the top tube means the piggyback needs to be under the main body of the shock, which again loses space. Look at my bike check to see a case of that, only the 450 ml fidlock bottle...
