I get missing the Red Bull free coverage, and I agree the commentary and broadcast quality still have room for improvement compared to then WB started. But if you're in New Zealand, it's actually one of the cheapest places in the world to watch the World Cup. MTBWS TV is only US$5.99 a month, which is about NZ$10, because New Zealand doesn't have a Warner Bros / Discovery broadcast partner and they use their own Staylive platform. At the end of the day, that's about the price of one beer at a pub each month and less than the price...

Believe it or not, the DHR2 has been the fastest rolling Maxxis DH tire for a long time, faster than the DHF, Assegai, HR2, HR3, Shorty, everything. That's why Greg ran DHR2's front and rear (2.3 EXO casing, I think?) on his World Champs bike in Pietermaritzburg in 2013. It was a gamble to run such thin tires on the DH track, and he famously hit a rock and got a leak on the rear tire in his race run, such that it was completely flat within a minute of crossing the finish line. Much different casings and a lot more going on with the new DH vs DD. The butyl insert in the new DH is waaaaaaaaaay stiffer than the old one or what’s found in the DD casing. It also has different geometry-thicker at the base near the bead and tapers as it goes up the sidewall. I believe it’s also taller than the insert in DD so it extends higher up the sidewall. And then the sidewalls are topped with a layer of EXO for additional cut protection. I’m no longer at Maxxis, but I was working on this launch up...

Never tried tires heavier than 1380 g and I for sure will wait to hear what people think about the new dh-casing before i put a pair on my Raaw Madonna. One of the first "reviews" on YT had gotten a pair that weighed >1600 g.

I know it's the highest spec model, but it's still a little refreshing to see a longer travel (enduro light?) complete bike that is around 30lbs. Nowadays, it seems like downcounty bikes are hovering around 30lbs and longer travel bikes are 35+. As someone who likes to do big days in the saddle, it's nice to see some new bikes attempt to keep the weight down.

Re: Hutchinsons Installed a pair of hutchinson wyrms rlab in 29×2,4. Weighed in both at 850g. Install was easy, the sidewall feel much more substantial than exo+ and whatever kenda is using. Measures 66mm at the knobs and 62mm at the sidewall. Very round profile, bot bad imho. Recommended Pressure in the sidewall 1,5bar/22psi. Legit!

I tried a Wyrm as a rear tyre about two years ago. I tore it off after the first ride and sold it. In retrospect I think i should have given it a couple of rides to wear in a bit. It's just my own theory but i've learned that Specializeds tyres tend to need a couple of rides before...

Luca, Richie, Asa, Pinkerton, Maples, Gwin if he has a good day, Cannonball Bode Burke if he can finish his run, and many more who legitimately have the chance to win like Austin, Dante, Medcalf, Kitchen, Suetos, Nik, etc- is this the most competitive senior men's USA national champs since the 90's or eeeeeearly 2000's? I realize that every situation and rider is different. You learn how a tire reacts and you ride accordingly. I’ve used a DHF for over 20 years as a front tire. Maybe longer. Many other designs have come and gone, but the DHF has persevered. I’ve tried other offerings, specifically the Assegai… This might sound weird, but I thought it was possibly too good. It made steering the bike boring. I couldn’t get a front wheel slide to happen. I actually enjoy that, and use it as a cornering method. You can actually feel what the tire is doing on...

Idk whats going on in this forum lately. Amaury: I'm using radials. Schwalbe: our riders are all using radials. Us: no one's using radials. My personal experience, riding them in every condition imaginable, including snow: the biggest improvement in mountain bike technology since we figured out 64 degree HTA could apply to non DH bikes.

Not rumor or top secret tech (or is it?!), but all this SS talk got me excited... Fellow Luddites rejoice. $5 in hardware and proper reuse of a destroyed derailleur: Keeping it about tech, though, this little contraption really made me want to try the Lal Supre Drive. I hope the Supre Drive or similar concept shows back up in the future.
