Some our local rippers / engineers came up with a very unique "axle-less" pedal. Machined here in Calgary, Alberta and testing in the rocky mountains. They use a big ol 6902 bearing for spinny duties. The pendulum (drop pedal) is super interesting. Void pedals (traditional flat) Pendulum pedals (12mm drop) "Our platform sits 12mm below the center of the axle. Most pedals place the platform 5mm or more above the center of the axle. Couldn’t you build the heat break into your pad backing? A thin G10 strip or something. Or do you need the airflow on the back of the pad?

DOT can be left unattended for longer. I think it would be cool to have brakes that are as reliable and low maintenance as car brakes and that would require DOT. In regards to heat, ceramic and phenolic pistons are superior. Stainless with an insert is decent too if the insert material insulates well. Straight metal pistons have a noticeable negative impact on brake fluid temp even on trails that aren’t too crazy. Stainless pistons result in the brake fluid getting 10% hotter pretty much instantly.

11/20/2024 2:44pm The Bronson is a big burly frame for a "trail bike", and there's much room between the rear wheel and the seat tube when bottomed out so I wouldn't be surprised you could get significantly more than 150mm of travel with a longer stroke shock. It completely dwarves the V1 Megatower.

I respect your hill but as the owner of a full 29, 29/27.5 mullet, full 27.5, and a 27.5/26 mullet, I can confirm that switching between each brings a whole lot more fun into my life than pigeon-holing myself into only riding wagon wheels. To each their own!

Two of the zoceli models are threaded and the enduro and freeride frames both have press-fit.. I'd also prefer threaded but I just liked the frame too much for that to be an issue. I got the beer from a friend and had to keep it for a bit just for the photo 🙂

Tough to say about durability or ride quality before test rides and reviews come back, but looking at the Galbraith in 29x2.5 size, it comes in a 1200 gram version and a 1300 gram version. That’s pretty confidence inspiring if you’re looking for a durable tire. Most of the old Trek trail tires were around 1000 grams with paper sidewalls.

Running the Galbraith and Brevard SE tires right now. I'm more of a Vittoria and Conti guy but this new Trek rubber is awesome! Can't beat the price.

All my bikes (hardtail, trail, ebike, and DH) are 27.5 F&R. The hardtail and ebike can take 29 wheels, but I can't be doing with a 29 wheel in front, and I don't want arse rub out back. Actually my DH can be set up 27.5 or 26 with flip chips that alter the BB height, and CS length - I usually trash the rear spokes in the Alps, so I took my old 26 wheel as back up, and once it was needed, I've never looked back as it just felt better with 27.5 front, and 26 rear. Unfortunately...

I think certain dealers can get C frames though. I got my 2023 5010 C as a frame only from Jenson last year.
