8/1/2026 1:50pm While racing bros did produce some very questionable "race" seals before, lycan seals are very good and preferred by many suspension service/tuning shops in Europe. Cane creek used to use them in first gen. Helm forks as well, I used them for 3 years, no excess oil was coming out, nor any dirt ever made it's way in. The new skf DC seals however, well they leave a lot of mess behind from new, went back to racing bros and all is good again.

7/31/2026 12:39pm I am not expecting the CC to be better than Intend, I just hope it's closer to Intend's performance than to 38mm RSD alternatives, with more practical & affordable ownership. Btw the oil in my Essential still had the original color when I "dropped the lowers" after a year of riding and I am not seeing much of a gunk...

7/31/2026 12:32pm the CC homies at sea otter told me this spanked my BL Flash 35. they said among the inverted forks they tried, intend was the pinnacle and main fork they kept for comparison. (I confirmed they used a Flash, not the cross country Edge fork) although I walked over to their 'demo' fork- which was a handlebar/stem mounted to a vertical fork on the floor (so you can push on it) and the first thing i did was the same thing i did with my Flash when i got it; push down only on one grip.... yep, fork hardly moved...

7/28/2026 11:26am Name goes back some 15-20 years ago when first proper tubeless components were introduced (tubeless ready tires, tubeless wheelsets like mavic demax, which are not drilled throught etc) but a lot of us scrubs couldnt afford those and sealants were not as good as they are today so if not using proper parts the setup most likely wouldnt hold air and a ghetto setup was invented by cutting a 20" innertube and streching it over a rim and then mounting a tire, so the cut innertube would rest between the tire and the rim effectively sealing it. Combined with the...

7/25/2026 8:35pm And then next thing you know there’ll be position sensitive damping and I’ll be sitting here wondering why so much complexity has been added all to solve something easily doable with a linkage. Springs in series result in a crazy low initial spring rate unless you’ve got at least one very stiff spring in there. Half of what they help with in off road applications doesn’t apply to bikes at all. In theory it does let you pick an initial sprint rate, final spring rate, and transition point, but without winding your own springs the customization available is surprisingly limited.

7/24/2026 3:28pm I love that you think gearboxes will become ubiquitous on ebikes and will entirely replace mechanical derailleurs and electronic battery-powered derailleurs and electronic hard-wired derailleurs and autoshift derailleurs and internally geared hubs, instead of becoming one more option among a confusing sea of options and pricepoints, like everything else in the bike industry. If only it were that simple.

7/24/2026 7:10am Similarly, I picked up an unused team frame back in 2014 (I think) and it was my favorite DH bike hands down. One of the few bikes I wish I still had.

7/21/2026 2:27pm Right, not a trail fork by any means. It will replace an Avalanche hybrid coil 36 which is about the same weight but with less travel and crappy chassis.
