3/26/2025 6:41am I agree 1000%. I always give the example of In-N-Out vs. Jack in the Box. One of these companies offers very few choices, is always busy, and is exploding with business. The other company offers burgers, tacos, salads, breakfast sandwiches, pancakes, desserts, fried chicken, lattes, burritos, is always empty, and is closing locations. Companies should work hard to avoid being Jack in the Box. As Ron Swanson famously said, "Never half ass two things. Whole ass one thing." A brief thought about Cheesecake Factory and Maxxis: these are great examples of the other side of the coin, but it takes...

3/25/2025 2:41pm I think it would benefit any manufacturer AND the customer if the frame, battery and motor was compatible between specs. For example: pick a frame, 150mm or 180mm travel. Pick a battery size, 400, 600 or 800. Pick a motor, CX or SX. And out spits your bike. Like Build-a-Bear but for grown ups (?) Build-a-BIke... I have the concept ALL flushed out!

3/25/2025 2:40pm Yeah, I didn't see it and the guy I was talking to didn't elaborate. We'll find out in a few days I guess. My guess is that it'll look kinda pregnant due to big fat Trek-esque downtube from the giant battery, but skinny top tube and rear triangle because Spec is obsessed with light weight.

3/25/2025 10:04am I like that they're still encouraging the kids to excel at school at the same time (listing their GPAs). Way to lead by example Neko & FW.

3/24/2025 2:05pm Transition is a great bunch of guys that are really helpful when you need it, but they are not engineers. I feel like a lot of their eMTB releases have been done in the "ready, fire, aim" fashion. A couple of design review passes would have helped catching some fairly obvious stuff, like the headset routing on the Repeater, the...

3/24/2025 1:59pm Not anymore. I did it on 1 frame and 1 fork, spending at least a couple hours of my time getting really high coverage. I still managed to scratch both in places where there was no coverage. Both only sold for about 30% of what they cost new, just a couple years later. So, not wasting my time or money...

3/24/2025 10:51am If I can add my 2 cents here. I don't think Sram paid Jack, or the team, anything. That whole YT deal is that they run whatever they want because they don't take money from any sponsors. Now I think that was changing because the industry is struggling and they probably saw how much money they were losing out on. My best guess is YT asked Sram to pay to support the team and they said no, so YT doubled down on the TRP/Fox association they had already been building. Vali would be the only one I could see saying...

3/24/2025 6:56am I'd also suggest trying them with different rotors. I just swapped from Galfer Sharks to Waves on one of my bikes (to move the Sharks to a more desirable new bike), and noticed there's a LOT more vibration/feedback from the Waves. This is with Mavens & Galfer Purple pads. No noise, but it definitely feels very different.

3/23/2025 7:24pm That is one of the nicest versions of "don't be a d1ck" I have ever read, thank you for that. We're all here because we love this stuff and it takes no effort to assume good intentions and be kind.

3/23/2025 1:47pm this is my bike, XL Range VLT, DH/DD tyres, 720wh battery. Park tool scale errors out at 28kg lol, so had to use some bathroom scales. 31kg
She thicc, but it's pretty much a downhill bike spec and ride quality. Nothing breaks.

3/22/2025 8:05am The old Eliminator is the tire I always wanted the Dissector to be - faster rolling than DHR2 or similar, decent all-arounder, good wear characteristics and good enough cornering traction for the compromises. I always rode it in 2.6 29" T7/9 gravity and never found it lacking in cornering prowess because it has the same side knobs as the old Butcher. If they beefed it up a bit, while still keeping the spirit of the old one, I'm very excited to try it.

3/22/2025 7:39am We've obviously talked about this a lot, and I’m in a bit of a unique spot, having played the “CFO” role at a small, vertically integrated manufacturing company in the outdoor space. I don’t think I’m oversharing when I say it’s a labor of love. That’s not to say Intend isn’t profitable, but let’s be real: Kornelius could probably make a lot more money as a founder/design engineer in just about any other industry. I touched on this in the podcast I did a while back, but the IQ level in the bike industry is wild. You’ve got incredibly talented...

3/22/2025 7:38am Glancing at the spec sheet, it looks like they basically underspec'd components to get it under the magic 50 lbs. Endurance front tire, Lyrik, WTB KOM rims, etc. I'd wager that the frame is the same as their big Grimace bike, so that weight number should skyrocket once you start putting on realistic components for a full power ebike.

3/21/2025 12:05pm One quick note for everyone: The Sram/Rockshox Trailhead app (and their website's serial-number-based help) seems to be down. I mentioned it in the Tech Rumors thread but here's part of the email they sent me when I asked 'em about it: "SRAM is experiencing an IT issue that has impacted operational capabilities in certain departments. We are working to resolve the issue as soon as possible and will provide regular updates as information allows. In the meantime, please be aware that none of these resources will recognize serial numbers. Suspension products saved in your RockShox Trailhead Garage may also not...

3/20/2025 1:14pm Super Deluxe and Vivid all have quite similar characteristics over the years, when just looking at dyno plots - they don't have wildly different tunes year to year like Fox does. The latest ones are a little lighter in low speed compression so will feel more responsive, which is a pretty common theme from most brands in the last couple of years. The C2 tunes allow you to add more LSC without being as harsh on small bumps as the C1 or earlier shocks did. eg the "hotdog" generation shocks have very low high speed damping and increasing LSC made...
