Most guys I know on e bikes are either 50+ or in shape bike riders who use it as a training or trailbuilding tool.

I don't know the person in question, but I can tell you that after 26 years of turning wrenches for a living that neither being an engineer or a good (even great) rider absolutely DOES NOT mean that you know how to work on bikes.

There’s also the incredibly likely chance this random Youtuber is going out of his way to find anything remotely negative about a product that has generally favorable reviews solely to generate clicks.

Neko also had an article on PB a little while back stating basically there was no reason to run a mullet and they were objectively not faster than full 29 on a DH course. He’s rad but not everything he says should be taken as irrefutable truth.

If you think I recommended XC brakes for enduro bikes, then you didn't read the posts. Having far too much braking potential than what you need is also stupid. Debating parts selection on a mountain bike is based on performance, and just like with everything in competition, it is about optimization and efficiency. If you are plodding along the trails and want massive braking power, go for it. That is a subjective opinion. But when racing a clock, I want exactly what I need for optimum performance, nothing more and nothing less, and that is not an uncommon demand for...

Do you really think power is the limit factor on brakes though? All the top of the line brakes have more than enough (Code's, Magura, Hayes, Formula etc) when paired with a 200mm+ rotor to lock a wheel with 1 finger. I ride Hayes brakes and I would never struggle to lock a wheel on almost any terrain if i wanted to, I find braking is more grip limited (i.e tyre grip) than brake limited.

Your question is sufficiently vague as to mean anything. It depends what you want. You want explosive power and raw strength? Better go move heavy stuff. Need to improve your endurance? Lower weight high rep has worked well for me. need to work on balance and mobility? That’s a separate way to work out. Or do some yoga classes. Want to lose weight? That’s a kitchen exercise, not a gym exercise. so step 1 is identifying your goals and weaknesses and building on them. there are no shortage of coaches to help with specific goals. I’ve found Ben Plenge and...

Would be interesting to see Vans push into MTB... their shoes are already used to a great extent by park rats and freeriders and I am sure they have the $$$ to entice Semenuk if they choose to use him to jump into the MTB world 'officially'. Also wonder how this all coincides with Emil having more of a presence at Etnies. On a side note, the Etnies Culvert Mid shoes are my current favourite shoes to ride in so I appreciate all the effort they have put into their MTB range.
