Have you tried the Big Betty and the Romy? How do they differ from the DHR2?

Unless trying Specialized, I would recommend getting over mismatched logos or getting out some sharpies. Seems to be enough awareness of the awful durability of Schwalbes when you put them in the rear here so I won't repeat it

This. I feel like the pros outweigh the cons for a radial on the front (bigger contact patch, more grip, more compliance). I disliked the feel for the rear tire (more likely to burp, more delicate unless I upped the pressure or ran a gravity casing).

I'm also just not a huge fan of any of the schwalbe tread patterns for a rear tire over a dhr2 or kryptotal re. The tacky chan is close, but wears fast as a rear tire.

Schwalbe Eddy Current rear (gravity casing gen2) rolls well and lasts long. Best for drier conditions but does work in tacky conditions.
I find aside from extra traction for tech climbing a rear radial removes more vibrations compared to a diagonal rear. The new gen2 Schwalbe radials have much better support compared to the first gen.

yes, out of all the radials schwalbe has now, I would think the eddy current rear is the closest match to a dhr2 or kryptotal re. definitely not the romy - the low ramped knobs are more like a dissector.

Thanks for the recommendations guys.  I decided to see what these Radials are all about.  I’m getting a magic Mary front in ultra soft and a tacky chan in soft for the rear, both in the gravity casing.  My buddy that I’m visiting in Golden told me he recently demo’d the new Yeti LT which had radials, he told me he was blown away by how good the tires were on his local trails.  He almost sounded more impressed by the tires than the bike.

This is my new set up and I love it. All my trails are natural, wet and rooty and I have been very impressed with the set up. I would even consider running a radial TC in the rear when it wears out.

Has anyone done proper timed run testing for enduro racing? Curious if there's a noticeable difference between Schwalbe Gravity Pro, Maxxis DH/DD & Conti DH offerings.

Conti DH are lighter but stiff.

Schwalbe Gravity Radial seem to offer more grip/compliance at the cost of rolling speed and support.

Curious if anyone has been going back to back and what they found.

nothing will ever be perfect, but this YT channel make some decent assumptions and gathered good data over a lot of runs: https://www.youtube.com/@RoJoDH

he used the same pressure in every tire which makes sense to eliminate a variable... but unfortunately we all know that we use different pressures for different casings, and certainly heavier and lighter riders use different pressures even on identical tire models.

Just strava stuff, but it really depends on where and what you're riding.

I like the maxxis new dh casings myself. they roll fast, have a nice supported feeling, but still have a bit of that radial compliance feeling on the initial bit of a hit. They've been fastest on the dh bike and e-bike. No way I'd pedal those on the enduro bike !

The schwalbes are faster at going slow, if that makes sense. They shine on slower tech and roots where you can't just pitter patter your way through stuff, and have to just plow it. They're slow rolling on hardpack. And not happy about smashing berms at mach chicken.

The continentals roll well too, have decent casing support, and aren't too draggy on hardpack. Only in dh casing though, their enduro and trail casings were never great for me.

Yep... everything you said checks out, and agree, Conti DH casings are their best tires.

So all that being said, if you're doing an enduro race tomorrow in dry conditions, what tires are you picking?

Knowing that it's dry and could pick anything, I'd go for specialized cannibals front and rear, such a good tire, still so underrated. If only I could have T7/T9 option to use in the rear, would make it perfect.

Man, I’d love a t7/t9 Cannibal for out back. I imagine we will see a radial version before we see that dual compounds though. The Krytotal Re DH soft out back mixed with the Cannibal up front is a solid combo for Summer though.

Hi, is there any new news about the release of new Schwalbe 2 2 2 prototype tyre? And i'm hoping for shredda rear soft, any news here?

unrelated to your prototype but perhaps I thought I was a tire nerd, but not enough, as I did not notice the old tacky chan non radial is different thread compared to the new radial pro one.. which seems like a 2 2 2 ramped knobs.. new one reminds me of the big betty

that's a pretty interesting find. it looks like the Tacky Chan radial shoulders, and the center knob count is like the TC also, but completely different knob shapes and taller height.

Would totally depend on the course.

Long transfers on hardpack with gentle grade, fast, open terrain ? Probably kryptotal dh ss/s.

Short transfers that'll be pushers anyways, and steep/gnarly terrain ? Dhx front and rear.

Slower, tighter stuff with lots of square edges ? MM/Tacky chan radial.

Looks very similar to High Roller 3 to me, which I love. Should be a good tire.

Yeah, i really like schwalbe radial stuff, been riding magic mary for years now. For me if MM had like 1mm higher shoulder knobs it would be absolute perfect tire for me. Right now i'm experimenting with shredda front with cut knobs. Here's my shredda:20261006 202512.jpg?VersionId=JpUz
