Someone's got to be on that new Wilson. It looks sick AF. Although Goodman seems to be one of the secondary teams that's crushing it and I'd hope it's not just v10 related.

I have a hard time seeing how he works from the money side with FW, unless he's got a bunch of personal sponsors that I don't know about. Gwin brought along a bunch of his own, which makes the math work, and he's been getting better and better results through the season. I can't see Gwin retiring next year, and Danny occupies a similar role of experienced racer to mentor young talent. Granted Gwin probably won't do the full WC circuit again, but I'm sure he'll be there for most of them.
On the other hand, he's done the sponsored privateer (ie, own program, lots of smaller sponsors) before.
And if you were to do that, surely one of the leading contenders for a frame to hang stuff off is a FW?

He has a long-standing relationship with Adidas/FiveTen and Monster, so may be able to bring in some funds from them. I get the impression he did not gel with the Norco, you can get lost in all the adjustments, so the Frameworks bike may be a better match in that regard.
Are there any other rumblings around? Any teams changing kit sponsor? New team sponsors? Teams leaving?
I know we are mostly gravity oriented here, but the Cannondale Factory (XC) team is shutting down and Maxime Marotte announced that Origine Racing Division will be without Origine come 2027. Origine said that they will continue as a frame sponsor some place else. The Cannondale development leaves a lot of quick people looking for teams next year, although I am sure they must have something arranged already.
In other XC topics, I wish people would talk more about what happened to Chiara Teocchi. She is left paralyzed and was fighting for her dear life a some weeks ago. It makes me mad and it breaks my fucking heart. I don't know what the fine print in riders' contracts is, but I am sure that a lot of you will agree with me on the principle that a racer should not be forced to start a GoFundMe page to support medical costs, after an accident that took place in a World Cup, which is basically work environment. I am curious what are the responsibilities of A. the organizer B. the UCI World Cup, as an entity C. the team.
Sorry to bring in the less pleasant talk, but I feel that this is important and uncovered and what is the duty of a community if not communicate and share thoughts, after all?

I send you good thoughts, Mx
Dang I missed that—she’s paralyzed from a crash during a race?
Dang I missed that—she’s paralyzed from a crash during a race?
Yep. The La Thuile XC course was gnarliest of the year. This info about her was kept kinda suspiciously low profile from a certain point on. At first nobody talked because she had complications during surgery and it wasn't clear if she was going to make it. But after this, I think it was a PB article and that was that.
If her confession of IG doesn't make one's eyes wet, I don't know what does...
How does the Red bull contract work. Everyone always seems to be surprised and are they surprised that they're getting the helmet after they already signed with Red bull, are they putting on a show, or have their manager signed them as a surprise and they actually don't know until the helmet pops out.

Half speculating and half vague memories: the contract is signed a month or so beforehand, but the helmet handover event is a surprise. The timing is key, and bullseye perfect here: Aletha has the overall wrapped, A-Aron hands over the helmet before qualies at the last race on home soil. Chef’s kiss. 😘 👌🏻

The entire thing feels staged.
Don't get me wrong: I think Aletha is going to be a serious competitor at the Elite level next season. She's got a great personality and is articulate and incredibly mature for her age. But her success this season on the World Cup circuit is, in all likelihood, due in part to the absence for most of the season of Rosa Zierl. Last year they each won 4 World Cups and Rosa won the World Championship and the overall in World Cup. I have no idea if Rosa has a Red Bull helmet or a Monster helmet or some other soft drink's helmet, nor do I care.

Rosa got her RB helmet from Vali earlier in the season. Although they may not have proved themselves on the Elite stage yet, I’m sure the approach by the energy drink companies is to recognize the potential and start supporting them early in their careers to improve the likelihood they become a champion for them.
I had previously heard they submit an application, terms are negotiated through interviews and meetings, but the contract is not official until the helmet gets delivered. But I have no idea if what I heard was correct. Perhaps @BGoldstone has a more accurate understanding than most of us.

I wonder if he's ever got to grips with the new qualification system . He would have spent most of his career being able to qualify with a solid run and build towards finals and from what riders say now you have to be up to speed pretty much from the get go . He's had a great career and deserves to finish on his own terms so I hope someone gives him a chance .
Kind of related to Danny's situation in terms of qualifying for finals and getting on the broadcast , I'd be interested to know if there's been any questions raised by the teams that have paid for elite status then had weekends when they've not ended up having any riders on the broadcast , I would be asking Warner bros what im getting for my money .
From a purely sporting perspective everyone knows the rules and starts from the same point but im not sure either Warner bros or the teams will be happy with the current set up .

Yeah, not to go back in time, but in the pre-WB days, when anyone could snap out a top 10 and there were wild cards in every corner, brands had a bit more reliably that they were going to get even a mid pack rider smash out a hugey and then be in the top 20 for a few races while they were beaming with confidence.
I do think that the new format rewards the best, most consistent riders which shows the truely best of the best which is why there have been so many upsets. To your point, how many seasons did Danny build up from mid pack at the start of the season and then start winning the last few races?
But if the people putting the money up to make it happen aren't getting what they used to and while I do enjoy the shorter broadcasts, the racing is less exciting over all without the denim destroyers getting on a middling brand and both having their moment which ends up injecting more into the sport.

Yeah I have no idea other than the contract is done and the helmet is a surprise later. If you took the helmet without the contract then you just gave your bargaining power.
I assumed that Aletha got the redbull sponsorship because she beat Vali last week… guess I was wrong, they must have signed her a while ago. Great timing on the helmet though
was he trolling or bait casting?

Spinning a tale
Sh*t's about to get reel!

No major changes will take place. Almost all expiring contracts have been renewed.
I had posted previously that Enve was looking for an XC team, and I had heard they were talking to Cannondale, but I guess things changed.
Origine is already with Enve.
Stop stringing us along!
Aletha to Red Bull.
Awesome, she deserves it. What a dominant season.
