I couldn't figure out what these were for, until today.

Makes me think this "concept" is coming sooner than folks are letting on.

New motor is much wider and doesn't retrofit into todays M1/M2 frames so that's probably not the case.

Now I'm back to wondering what those bolt holes are for...

Big fan of this... anyone else notice the dropouts? Looks like they're modular like on the Forbiddens so assume wheel size changes wiith these rather than a flip chip on the ebikes.

The "LT" on the frame suggests that the 160 and 140 (MT?) are going to share the same platforms and travel will be a linkage and/or shock stroke change. Looked good in the raw carbon I saw, but really looks tidy painted.

Does this mean everyone already has production ready frames to fit these? This may be even closer than we realize

The LTe and MTe are different frames, I wonder if this will be the case.  Have you heard that the other one will be a 140?  Wondering if it's more in the middle ground to replace the SB120 and SB140.  Gloss carbon sounds sweet.

I think Avinox reached out to the brands that showed bikes today and asked them if the would develop some frames to showcase it. It sounds like there's still a bit of work to be done to have it market ready but one of the main Avninox guys expressed a desire to have it to market in 2027.

For the people who complain about too many bikes being horst link now--get ready it'll be all of them soon. Being able to easily split the rear triangle makes belt drive possible. Gonna be hard on the sales floor to tell people the chain that needs constant maintenance is better than the belt that doesn't. Maybe another one of the reasons Santa Cruz shifted the bullit/vala away from VPP. Seat post insertion, belt compatibility, and minimizing ugliness; three pretty compelling reasons.  I think brands are going to probably be hard pressed to put all their R&D into ebike horst link split pivot whatever designs and then do something completely different for their normal bikes. They will mostly want to just carry it over, so your DW link pivot might not be DW link when all their ebikes (>75% of their business?) switch to horst link.

Really curious how this eCVT stuff works with regards to:

  1. Can you pedal it if the battery dies?
  2. How much more resistance will it have when pedaling with the motor "off"?
  3. How many miles can you get out of it when the motor is "off"?
  4. What effect does this type of system have on pedal kickback?
  5. How much does your pedaling add to the output if any? What is the efficiency of your input, and how does that relate to battery usage? Meaning, if you pedal harder, does one motor just ramp down? Can you get 3000w out of this thing by sprinting?
  6. How the F does the regen braking work?

Wouldn't want to be Bosch or Sram or Shimano right now... only had forever to develop this shit these companies did in like 3 years.

Is this an 75% e-bike thread and forum now? Time to say 75% goodbye? Asking for a friend.

Color me curious about CVTs on bikes but I am definitely on the wait for a number of product cycles before even thinking of owning one. Everyone I've known with Nuvinci/Enviolo hub has had major issues to say nothing of friends/acquaintances with CVT issues on their newish (<5yo) cars. The idea has promise, but execution is the only thing that matters.

I think all the new tech coming down the road will all be here faster than we realize. Like the early days of the iphone, a new one every 6 months.

Understand the sentiment, but this is where the newest in new development seems to be happening.

This is a Toyota style CVT, not a belt driven snow machine type

Mayhaps, but Toyota certainly doesn't like anyone trying to service their CVTs either.

What's there to service other than lubricant changes?  They look built to outlast every other part of the vehicle.

Bought some Mavens today and was going to buy HS2 rotors, but was told to expect 2.2 mm rotors from SRAM soon. No idea about the timeline, but it makes sense, considering many other brands are offering 2mm+.

Welcome news, but hopefully they're straighter out of the box than HS2s.

As a person in the bike indusrty for 30+ years, Owned a bike store for 6 years, And has owned 5 Yeti's one of which is still my favorite bike my 2021 SB 160E still going strong. Today was eye opening! The MGU and CVT is real. DJI is not a copycat, And will eat the big 3 bikes brands lunch now. And the sixfinaty Yeti pedal bike is around the corner. Weird day..

it's fine, 2.3 and i assume even 2.2 rotors are super easy to true vs the thinner options

To my knowledge, not with the newest generation live valve.
