Hello Vital MTB Visitor,
We’re conducting a survey and would appreciate your input. Your answers will help Vital and the MTB industry better understand what riders like you want. Survey results will be used to recognize top brands. Make your voice heard!
Five lucky people will be selected at random to win a Vital MTB t-shirt.
Thanks in advance,
The Vital MTB Crew
Ah ok, I thought it was the big jump. I stand corrected.
Yeah, Wyn crashed on a jump further down. There were obviously some issues there, but the jump itself wasn't the problem in Wyn's case.
Yeah my bad, thought Wyn crashed on this jump. Hope he recovers soon.
Asa’s win has me thinking.
Who was the last rider to win a Men’s WC DH using an air shock?
Most likely Pierron
Yes, MSA was Jackson on DHX2 coil, LP was LMS on DHX2 coil, then before that, AP4 won Lenzerheide on a Vivid Air.
Dante just providing photographic evidence in order of all 3 podium shots is impressive reporting.
Race Cascadia thinking outside the box for race coverage.
From the DT recap, evidently the issue was that it was:
Take a combination of any 2 out of those 3 factors, and it's not ideal but not overly hazardous (though I would say #3 should never happen). All 3 factors combined leads to a really dangerous situation.
@mangler you should just reach out and console them in advance on the GoPro card handling.... 😁
🤦🏻♂️
Of course!
I guess I’m thinking that I don’t remember anyone using a Float X2
The last win on a Float X2 was Andorra 2023 from Thibaut Daprela. Hopefully the next time the X2 gets on the top step it won't be him taking it there.
Amaury won Les Gets in 2024 on a Float X2. Myriam Nicole also won Loudenvielle later that year on an X2 as well.

@Mr.Nally Proof of victory will only be allowed if accompanied by podium pic as evidence. Dante's rule...not mine.
Good catch! I forgot Commencal Muc-Off switched suspension brands. I saw his results but didn't go look to see what shocks they were on.
Can't wait! Shawn and Julia are doing a great job bringing this race back to to the Rockies.
I'll take the chance that this is somewhat on-topic and race-related.
I'm probably missing someone who should be on this short list, but here are four riders who I think might have the highest combined winning percentages in UCI World Cup and World Championships. I didn't include wins in Juniors (Vali's percentage would be almost double, if I did.*)
Notes:
Vouilloz has to be somewhere above 30%,: quite probably ACC too?
Edit : That's a serious understatement. She's over 50%!!!
I couldn't find a woman by that last name.
I did find Nicolas Vouilloz, who won 22 of 58 UCI DH races (including 7 World Champs), for 37.9%. Very impressive. I've learned something new!
Anne Caroline Chausson
Nico also had a combined 10 World Champs wins I believe
Rachel also ha a perfect season in 2016. Winning every World Cup and Champs.
Asa Vermette 100%
He heard about all the issues with the X2 and wouldn't take no for an answer.
Luca Cometti gettin' the UncChats from Pro DH Mountain Creek. Looks like it's gonna be wet!
For some other stats: Amaury's podium with a crash in South Korea was insane. From what can be easily found, it seems like the last time that happened was Sam Hill in Val Di Sole, 2008.
Does anyone know of any other times this happened? Maybe Rachel Atherton did it at some point since she used to win by crazy margins 10-15 years ago?
How do we like this?
Am I misremembering, or was there a time when Dakotah Norton crashed & still made it onto a podium?
Nico - 10 CONSECUTIVE World Champs victories.
3 Junion World Champs
7 consecutive Elite World Champs.
1992-2002 Undefeated in that race.
Having come from that very first generation of downhill bikes, venues & formats...it's still utterly mind blowing. Courses had HUGE pedaling sections. Tons of races on slick grass. Times could be up to 6 minutes on track for top 5.
But the greatest feat was getting the equipment of those eras to the bottom of the track as the FASTEST on track.
Everything we rode from 92-2002 was still fragile & courses were evolving faster than the bikes.
His streak was stopped short of 11 because of a puncture.
Still can't comprehend how he put together the fastest run of the day for the ONE & only race where everyone went checkers or wreckers. Zero quarter given for World Champs. No one racing for 2nd.
And yet he won ALL of them.
I feel like that is right, Croatia maybe?
